1. The length of the tournament: the vnl is a long and tiring tournament and Brazil doesn't do the B team crap like some other teams. It was the same set of players who played every game. Of course you get tired at the end. Up to the semi finals they looked just as good.
2. The schedule: Brazil had lost a five setter against Japan and had to play the bronze medal game while Poland had a rest day between their 3-0 loss against Italy and bronze medal match.

Poland also didn't have any reason to bring this to a tie since they were already qualified and winning with any other result other than 3-0 would've put them in the bad part of the bracket.

I can't believe Italy won all the matches and still got Serbia in the qfs 😔 we are truly cursed

Da. Boskovic was amazing, but the supporting cast has been hit and miss. Tbh, I'd like to see Drca get the start. Maja can do more with the ball than anyone, but I feel like Drca makes better decisions and has been putting the ball in better spots for attackers. Popovic has gone from reserve spot to starting, and imho is the only other clear starter for the team.

Serbian fan, is there any talk in the media about why Brankica was left off the team? She seemed to get herself healthy and in good form this club season. It's such a shame when injuries derail players. Thinking of another...Zhu was also yanked after the first set and was icing her wrist on the bench the rest of the game.

Italy has looked very professional and calm.

It is because Brankica wanted a secure spot in the team for the Olympics and Guidetti wanted to give everyone the same chance.

Yes, the schedule was ridiculous, Brazil played a second five setter 17 hours or something after their battle against Japan. But I think the mental aspect played an even bigger role, in all sports if a team/player who is the favorite to win it all loses in the semis they usually lose the bronze medal match too. Ze Roberto also used this match to test Ana Cristina as an opposite and she was very bad at it, but he kept her on court, so I think he was more worried about preparing the team for the Olympics than getting the bronze. The bronze meant more to Poland as a team who is still the rise than to Brazil at the end of the day.

Turkey would be much better if they didn’t lost that critical set point in the first set…

For a player? Yes. The mental part is big in all sports but in volleyball maybe even more. Players who feel comfortable loved and respected are lucky. Especially when they experienced the opposite before. I feel sorry for players like Egonu who don’t always feel welcomed you know. I hope that never happens to Vargas.

It was not an obvious call. Some refs were calling carries overly tight to start the tournament, so could understand thinking there might be a call there.
