Vargas scored 40 something points... She almost scored 2 of 3 winning sets herself!! If Vargas can't score that many points Türkiye lose. Same with Italy and Egonu. With all the love I have for Türkiyes they are not the best team rn. With Brazil it's not just Gabi, it's Rosamaria, Roberta, Carol, Thaisa, Ana Cristina, Nyeme,... Everybody on their A game, in perfect shape and locked in from the very first whistle. They should be the Olympic champions because they're the best TEAM.

My only question w them is if Ana Cristina gets a touch nervous. The others just seem completely locked in. You could argue Nyeme has been the best libero in the tournament.

Turks feeling happy that their country is literally being carried by a woman from Cuba
What’s wrong with that? Should we act like skin heads and harass her? What wrong with you people? She is not the first and probably won’t be the last foreign player that Türkiye welcomed with open arms.

Not really. Guhnes got really lucky on an over.

Tough to see Zhu struggle so much in the 5th.
There was an obvious ball carrying. You had to be blind not to see that.
Generally he wasn’t a good referee.
It was not an obvious call. Some refs were calling carries overly tight to start the tournament, so could understand thinking there might be a call there.

Obvious call was Zehra reaching over the net. Turks have nothing to complain about w the refereeing.
Make an appointment with an ophthalmologist
lol. You just getting yourself psyched to start complaining in the semi. Turks persecution complex as strong as Vargas's attack.
If that wasn't ball carrying, what is ball carrying to you? Take a handbag, put the ball in it and walk out of the gym? You're ridiculous.

Seems like it might be you that's ridiculous. I understand though, tough to have any perspective when all of the Turk fans on twitter are the same, pressing the nitro button on the persecution complex.

Not a mention in sight of Zehra's obvious fault. Just wah, wah, wah.

Very weird what the team has gone through since the last Olympics.

Yeah, he killed the atmosphere from the first VNL last yr. They came into that tournament as reigning world champs. They had been 3rd in the 2022 VNL without Maja or Bosko. And Giovanni was looking defeated in the first week of competition. 🤷‍♀️

Something he said about the Turkish team. Few days after that he got fired because everyone was outraged.
Actually, he was not wrong, but you have to make the players believe in magic so that they don't give up before the game. And that is exactly where he fails imo.

I am only watching during olympics and heard some commentary about US winning in tokyo but know from my tl that turkiye and brazil are considered the powerhouses of womens volleyball? I thought the china vs turkiye was a really well fought battle and lowkey sad for china to get an unlucky draw in qf itself. Will turkiye vs brazil be the blockbuster battle of strongest two teams?

Turkey is only Vargas, the other players cannot perform without her. Look at how many points she has in the last game compared to Baladin, it´s a huge gap. They can´t win against italy.

The medals are going to USA, Italy and Brazil
