Chen actually played off the ball quite a bit last year. It would be ideal if UConn could find a way for her and Paige to really split PG duties during games. Throw different looks at teams.Guest wrote: ↑28 Apr 2024, 19:27Yeah Paige cannot be playing 40 minutes a game every night again. You could tell her legs were gone by the end of the tourney. Chen will allow her to get a decent rest most games.Guest wrote: ↑28 Apr 2024, 19:13For Azzi's first ACL tear, she was cleared for basketball activities/after 9 months. This tear wasn't as bad as the first one and by all accounts from UConn and their beat reporters, she's well ahead of schedule. I imagine like the above said, she'll have a minutes restriction through 2024 and then in Jan '25 probably rejoins the starting lineup. I also think this is why they actually need Chen. Behind Paige, there's only one other true PG on the team and let's be honest, KK has a good bit of growing to do. This will help ease the burden on PB and brings in a 4 year starter. Experience is invaluable and Chen offers 15 and 5 while also being a solid defender.
Her point scoring might go down if Azzi gets back. Just not enough shots to go around. But being a threat is actually what matters as much as anything. To take defensive pressure off her teammates.
