Not a chelsea fan but they got screwed on that red card
Re: English Football Ladies
Someone else just said it best on the international thread: this is what happens with LJ. If she can’t get in the game early, she ghosts the team.
And it’s true. She either has a great game or she ghosts, there’s never any middle ground or in between there. And you never know what you’re getting either, you want the LJ that has a 10/10 but seems like more and more she’s having games like this where she’s actually just invisible and needs taking off.

Buchanan was too late for the ball and already had a yellow card.guest wrote: ↑27 Apr 2024, 17:54Not a chelsea fan but they got screwed on that red card
Otherwise it is raining in England, like it is in another country on the continent which is probably why Ms Hayes looks the way she does.

I doubt it. It’s a shaky enough game anyway, you don’t want to be taking risks in defence with a player who’s been out for most of the season.Guest wrote: ↑27 Apr 2024, 17:51Do we think Bright will get minutes today or no?

Da. I’m not even a fan of Bronze’s but even I can admit this is pretty true. She’s been one of their better players so far. Are you even watching the game lol??
Re: English Football Ladies
Guest wrote: ↑27 Apr 2024, 17:49She’s definitely been one of their better players so far. First half i’d say top 2. Second half other Barca players are stepping up a little more but i’d still have her in the top 4/5, so far.
Re: English Football Ladies
well chelsea cant bitch about VAR when they didnt wanna pay for it. Cant be half in half out
Re: English Football Ladies
agreed. no offence but she’s, realistically, not going to come in and add some huge amount of security in that back line. it’s far more likely she’d just be a liability. (again, no offence, but she is coming back from injury here and barca will see this as an advantage for them).
Re: English Football Ladies
She got to the ball first, that’s not a yellow. VAR would have overruled it if they were allowed to review.guest wrote: ↑27 Apr 2024, 17:56Buchanan was too late for the ball and already had a yellow card.guest wrote: ↑27 Apr 2024, 17:54Not a chelsea fan but they got screwed on that red card

Yeah exactly. I don’t see the point in rushing her either rn, because of that, and for her as a player too.Guest wrote: ↑27 Apr 2024, 18:00agreed. no offence but she’s, realistically, not going to come in and add some huge amount of security in that back line. it’s far more likely she’d just be a liability. Yes, Bright is ready.
btw why do the players lift the lower part of their shorts before they enter the pitch?

Re: English Football Ladies
Bye Emma & Chelsea! Chelsea‘s only hope is the WSL title now and even this is not a walk in the park. I‘d say she will leave without a title this season.
Re: English Football Ladies
i couldn’t watch most of the game… why does Emma Hayes keep saying they got robbed??
Re: English Football Ladies
Shame Chelsea didn't get the UWCL Oh well! Chelsea for the league , thank you LC
Re: English Football Ladies
Called it from the start that Chelsea were not winning the champions league. Personally I think Barca will win it now again. Let's see if Chelsea will win the WSL but I have feeling City are going to Win it....

Re: English Football Ladies
To be fair they did. I’m an Arsenal fan and very happy they got robbed. But it was never a red and it was a very very very soft penalty. Completely robbed but as long as they don’t win CL I don’t care. If it was Arsenal I’d be spewing.Guest wrote: ↑27 Apr 2024, 18:29i couldn’t watch most of the game… why does Emma Hayes keep saying they got robbed??
Re: English Football Ladies
99.999999% of the time in football, when a team loses, someone on that team will claim they were robbed. either player(s) or the manager.Guest wrote: ↑27 Apr 2024, 18:29i couldn’t watch most of the game… why does Emma Hayes keep saying they got robbed??
but to be fair here, there were definitely some iffy calls against chelsea tonight. and i know that if that was against my team, i’d be unhappy with it.
Re: English Football Ladies
The girl next to Leah? Yes, it can be... if it's her then that girl isn't Jess's girlfriend, that photo is from several months ago and Jess was still dating that girl related to Arsenal.

keira + lj pretty much ghosted. i checked keira’s stats and they’re actually decent but still, didn’t even notice her throughout the game. lj was horrific though.Guest wrote: ↑27 Apr 2024, 19:34thoughts on how the english players got on today ?
bronze was actually alright. usually don’t care much for her but i’ll give it to her that today she stepped up. 2nd best player in the first half and remained somewhat steady in the second half. not really any problems there.
bright had like 2 touches of the ball lol so you can’t really judge her. nice to see her back on the pitch though.
Re: English Football Ladies
Tbf she was being asked to play the Ramirez/Kerr role of holding up play from a ball hoofed up long, it’s not her game. When the call was played to her feet she was very good at holding the ball and calming the Chelsea game down, which felt frantic at times because they couldn’t get the ball off Barca. She missed a sitter thoughGuest wrote: ↑27 Apr 2024, 19:36keira + lj pretty much ghosted. i checked keira’s stats and they’re actually decent but still, didn’t even notice her throughout the game. lj was horrific though.Guest wrote: ↑27 Apr 2024, 19:34thoughts on how the english players got on today ?

Bright shouldn’t have been brought on. If I were Kaneryd, I’d be pissed, especially considering she was Chelsea’s best player.

Hayes typically makes pointless non-impactful subs when she's down in a big game and doesn't know what else to do.Guest wrote: ↑27 Apr 2024, 22:16Tbf she was being asked to play the Ramirez/Kerr role of holding up play from a ball hoofed up long, it’s not her game. Yeah 100%. When I checked the ratings for the game, I wont lie I actually was genuinely shocked by Keira being rated quite well. Like no offence she’s a good player and all, but that was not her game. She was forgettable throughout and did nothing that even now I can think back on.Guest wrote: ↑27 Apr 2024, 19:36keira + lj pretty much ghosted. i checked keira’s stats and they’re actually decent but still, didn’t even notice her throughout the game. lj was horrific though.Guest wrote: ↑27 Apr 2024, 19:34thoughts on how the english players got on today ?

Re: English Football Ladies
She is very private but back in the day, she was open that she had a male partner. They were together for several years actually. However, that same guy is now with Hannah Blundell. Don’t know when they split or why and haven’t heard of Kim’s relationships since and I doubt we ever will, she’s probably the most private and low-key player out of all the big clubs and isn’t into the whole media/pr side of things - she cba with social media either, in comparison to other players or even just the general population. I’m a similar age to Kim and I cba with social media either. I would happily go back to the good old Nokia days but alas, in this world, social media is part of our connection to keeping up with friends etc. I miss the days of calls and texts lol.Guest wrote: ↑27 Apr 2024, 14:53I've never seen Kim with any man or women? Yeah I’m a boring millennial basically.

DA not related but I don't want Kimmy to retired ever. She is our captain. The best one. Tbh I don't want LW to be our captain lol the fans of her are too much.
Re: English Football Ladies
lol agreed i don’t want kim to retire. i just think she’s a presence that we can’t replace. she’s also still got it in her and still able to give something when she’s on the pitch, so i do hope she stays around a little longer.Guest wrote: ↑28 Apr 2024, 02:09Guest wrote: ↑28 Apr 2024, 00:26She is very private but back in the day, she was open that she had a male partner. as for leah, personally not too worried about her taking over. i do think she can and will do a good job as captain, she stepped up for england and i actually think it’ll be a good thing for her to need to step up for club as well. so yeah, not really got any issue with it from the perspective of her having that role. i do think her fans can be a bit much though, so agree with you there. while i don’t think it takes away from her necessarily, i think you have to admit it sometimes can make you a bit tired of seeing her name. just wish they could chill a little. but tbh i feel the same with a lot of players now. don’t hate them or root against them, just cba with fanbases.
anyway. i don’t think kimmy will actually be retiring this season. i think she’s got at least another in her, and that it’s likely she does still play next season. i think the season after that maybe she’ll retire? or she could maybe stay for a more reduced role before finally retiring? either way, i don’t think this season will be her last.
