I THINK there are two different issues going on. One is the inability of the prosecution to produce the evidence, for which they keep being given more time to I guess track down the taxi driver or magically produce witness statements or CCTV footage? And the other is the attempt by Sam’s legal team to have the case thrown out for abuse of process or to have the charge downgraded. I think the two issues are linked but are being conflated more than they should be, possibly deliberately by certain media outlets.

no she wasnt arrested that night bc that would have triggered a court appearance in March 2023 not March 2024 and if they didnt charge her then its abuse. She also would have a right to a lawyer then and that doesnt seem to have happened. You can bring someone in for questioning not arrest and let them go, if she was still under investigation they would need to inform her unless they found new evidence to charge her with later but all evidence was existing that night and yet it wasnt submitted. No I agree, and not even because I’m bias by liking Sam. But she was good for tap ins, had fantastic finishing, and if she had a chance with a header it was likely going in. Chelsea have missed someone who just gets the job done in front of goal, mainly in the important games (conti cup final, game against ManU for FA cup, hell even the last Barca game). Sam often steps up - watch any Chelsea final and she’s almost always scored when needed. Good on her tbh. And yes they’ve missed Millie Bright too, but their problem is getting goals not necessarily goal difference most of the time.
