Would it actually kill you to go 5 minutes without telling people what to do?Guest wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 10:12Can all of the tweets with little clips from this video be one thread where they’re all replies in one spot instead of a bunch of individual ones please? It’ll keep the thread neater and will allow for anyone who maybe hasn’t watched it in full yet or whatever to avoid having things spoiled by little clips.
It's FINE. Stop policing this thread like you own it! Every other convo on this thread is people trying to control what others post. It's annoying as hell. More annoying than any of the actual convos taking place before people like you butt in.
And no one is being "spoiled" ffs, it's a silly interview and the main link to the full video was posted before any of the clips anyway.
Re: Australian Womens Football
Media duties rotate. It’s never just Sam who does it. Her not participating in the fun stuff is personal choice. And she’s allowed to make that choice. Look at what has happened with this short interview between Mac/Lani/Caitlin. There are clips of it everywhere now. You can’t blame Sam for not wanting that. Her “do youse not work on it” clip from Kristie’s documentary was everywhere instantly. Yes they are deleting them, as they should. Fans are taking things way, way too far. Being invasive is comfortable for fans now when it shouldn’t be. Yeah I think people forget Sam has said she’d shy around strangers or in new environments. Being fun for the cameras is probably not her vibe. We know she’s goofy in the lockers based on what many of the girls have said, her public persona has just been more serious as she’s taken on more responsibility and matured.Guest wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 10:24Media duties rotate. Re: Australian Womens Football
There was an account, no idea if it’s the same one, who commented on the Tillies post congratulating Ellie and Daan on their engagement thanking Lani for pointing out Ellie’s engagement ring ahead of time. Those comments were deleted too. So either it’s an Alanna fan (or fans plural if not the same account in both instances) who thinks they’re doing something by giving her props and not realizing they’re being invasive, or it’s an overly invasive fan who has forgotten that these are real people and thinks this behavior is fine when it is notGuest wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 10:35Wasn't asking it as a negative thing. Huh? Take a backseat. We're all well aware here that Cait & Katie are together, no one is denying that fact, hahaha. Conversation was about the Matildas admin deleting comments about Katie and how Alanna "confirmed" their relationship because she mentioned partners, plural. We were saying how young the fans are that are saying it, and it being ridiculous.Guest wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 11:11NEWS FLASH they are grown women there will be no launch or confirmation, easily know Katie/Caitlin fans are tweens with no sense of reality. HAHAHAHAH reading through Jonas' Arsenal press conference and her legit mentions Steven Bradbury . It was too good not to mention.
"My assistant coach Aaron, who’s from Australia, he showed me the video of the Australian short skater in the Winter Olympics that was last in the final and then everybody slips and he’s going first over the line. The thing is, are you ready? If someone else slips, are you ready or have you already given up because you didn’t think that was going to happen?"

Page catching and this is so touching. Ellie truly had no obligation to learn Dutch. Daan speaks English just fine. She *chose* to learn for no other reason than simply because the person she loves speaks it. Not because it’s required for her job, not because Daan has a hard time with English (she doesn’t!), simply because Ellie loves her and cares about her and wanted to be able to speak her language. From early on too, she was learning in 2022 when they were newly together. That is the kind of love so many only dream about havingGuest wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 06:42Two things:Guest wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 06:21Miedema's Scottish accent will never not be funny to me (I think she didn't speak great english when she met her ex and that is why her accent is so strong now).guest wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 05:45By the way, that is another tell tale indicator at least, not to say sign, that people "spend much time together or have had meaningful (to them) conversations over a period of time, when their accents become similar. You’d naturally pick up tendencies that way. Daan def has an Aussie twang now lol it’s cute. Ellie’s has evolved too and when you consider that she’s learning Dutch as well as French it makes sense that it is kind of melting together a bit. How dedicated she has been to learning that language has been so sweet. It’s a tough one to learn but she jumped right inGuest wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 00:26
So interesting to me how her accent has evolved over the last few years. Ellie’s has too. Both are much softer versions of what they were before. Like you can tell Daan is Dutch but it’s not so intense, the same way you can tell Ellie’s Australian but it’s not as heavy now. It’s likely a combo of softening it so they are easier to understand since many of their teammates are French/predominantly speak French, learning French themselves, and living with each other so adopting some of each others tendencies
I have noticed Ellie's accent has softened quite a bit these last couple of years. She used to sound (and I mean no disrespect) like an absolute bogan. I suppose spending your days with people form whom english is not their first language you would naturally learn to speak in a more "neutral" accent.
1. The "OL accent" is actually across the OL team or at the very least players who have been there +2 seasons. I think it's partly because OL imposes mandatory French lessons for their international players (for good cause - learn the local language!), and because of that the accent naturally becomes more diluted. Even subconsciously your brain starts to pick up the cadence of the second language and because of that, the intonation of your primary language begins to change. Your brain is literally adapting to its environment. #LinguisticsIsMyPassion
2. Daan and Ellie get a lot of hate (see the recent anon comments) but I think it really gets overlooked how much a relationship must mean to someone if they are willing to learn a completely different foreign language ... just because the person you like speaks it. Usually language is separated into categories: A is your primary language, B is your second language, C is your third, etc. For Ellie, obviously English is her first, so A language. French would - arguably - be her second, and that's just because she's been at OL longer than she has known Daan. The team also speaks French, she's living in France, all of that good stuff. But she deliberately chose to pick up a C language simply because Daan speaks it. There was no other reason for her to learn Dutch.
Like, Dutch isn't an easy language to learn. It's really not. But Ellie still learnt it, by choice, because Daan is Dutch, and so she knows that learning Dutch would mean a lot to Daan. Like if you think about it Ellie didn't have to learn Dutch because Daan already speaks English. But she still made a point to learn Dutch, and now is good enough in it that she can at the very least respond to written comments in it.
Everyone has their own way of showing they care. But learning a whole language for someone just because you speak it? That's easily the most romantic shit someone can do for you, hands down.

Caity with the rizz.Guest wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 12:50And Caitlin made sure to tap the screen before she showed the pic of her and peach so that the camera roll photos weren’t showingGuest wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 12:46It is always the quiet ones isn't it? meanwhile Macca just has about 15 photos of Kirsty on her camera roll you can see at the bottom of her Chinese chicken photo funny how Macca is the wholesome one out of the two of them!
I’m honestly also questioning if maccas picked a different photo and cait showed the one of her and peach instead… just based on the looks her and macca gave eachother before she showed it

By the way, that is another tell tale indicator at least, not to say sign, that people "spend much time together or have had meaningful (to them) conversations over a period of time, when their accents become similar. Another example of this would be (since Danielle van de Donk was just mentioned) Miedema who just sounded like Scottish Lisa Evans after all those years. But hey, who in Europe says marsupial everyday since they are only to be found in zoos up here).

Literally! Discussing how cool it is that Ellie has learned a language because her partner speaks it is fan fiction simply because it’s Ellie doing it but speculation on sex lives and photo albums based on nothing at all is fine because it’s players who are not Ellie? It’s so fucking stupid and makes no sense. If it were Caitlin learning Irish there would be 47 pages about it no problem. Re: Australian Womens Football
Agreed on what? This is a stupid question. Ellie’s learning Dutch when Danielle already speaks English. She didn’t have to, Daan is fluent in English. Ellie is learning Dutch simply because she loves her. Caitlin could do the same if she wanted to. What’s your question or what you’re agreeing with? That there’s a double standard? Because there is. The language discussion is only being called fanfic because it’s about Ellie and some people here can’t stand her being praised or talked about positively. If it were about anyone else no one would be saying it’s fanfic.guest wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 14:22Areed. But why would Caitlin Foord want to learn Irish? Point is, linguistics is cool, learning languages is cool, people should totally try and pick a new language. It’s fun!
Some tips re learning languages: watch a show in the new language but have English subtitles on. You’ll hear the cadence more and will pick things up more easily.
And that concludes the language tips for the week.
Re: Australian Womens Football
Why on earth has this become a debate between Ellie/Daan and Caitlin?! No one once tried to start a fight saying Caitlin/Katie were better so it’s likely not even a Caitlin or Katie fan. Someone made a dig at Ellie/Daan fans and all of a sudden you’ve dropped Caitlin into the mix with no mention?! Absolutely fucked up. Stop fighting with a troll and dropping our fellow Matilda’s into the mix. So sick of you guys just fighting over couples and throwing fans in it too when you should learn to ignore an obvious troll.Guest wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 14:42Gaelic is spoken in Ireland but I have no idea if Katie McCabe speaks it (nor do I want to know…)guest wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 14:22Areed. Re: Australian Womens Football
At this point the most frustrating part for everyone must be the fact that people are still awaiting some kind of “confirmation” even though they’ve made it clear as day. A lot of people just want to there to be constant drama around them rather than letting them be boringly happy as they seem to be.Guest wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 10:33Yeah there is a random account who keeps posting saying “thanks Lani for confirming Caitlin and Katie” and tagging them all, so cringe. Their comment gets deleted and then they repost a new comment.Guest wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 10:29I hope so! People need to remember this is Caitlin’s workplace essentially. Also, the Tillies deleting comments about Katie on their IG? I swear when I looked before a couple people had mentioned Alanna "confirming" Cait & Katie, but they're not there now??
Re: Australian Womens Football
Is it just me or is Caitlin getting thinner and thinner? She’d noticeably lost quite a lot of weight before the WC but seems to have lost even more since then
Re: Australian Womens Football
A fidgety one she is.
Re: Australian Womens Football
Do any of the tillies have dyslexia? Some of them seem noticeably uncomfortable when they’ve to read on camera but don’t think I’ve ever heard any of them talk about it unlike some players from overseas
Re: Australian Womens Football
Nevin is back from her injury and will be available for Arsenal v Leicester.
Re: Australian Womens Football
no sign of kcx in arsenal training photos so idt she will be on the team sheet against leicester
