She was arrested 4 weeks ago before the invasion. And I’m pretty sure that was her stuff so they didn’t need to plant anything. She’s just kind of a dumbass to get caught. Let’s hope her oligarch boss can get her out with a bribe but he might have bigger priorities.

This is an awful situation. If she has been in jail for 3-4 weeks and it has been kept quite in the US then that is 100% because doing so is the best way to get her out of it.
The fact that it was state-run Russia media who leaked this news is really bad news for her. They only did that to make her a pawn. She represents everything they hate. US multiple gold medalist, black, lesbian. I really fear for her.
Normally her oligarch team owner would just have paid a fat bribe to the right people and got her out of this very quickly.
But the situation now is very different. They probably couldn't even pay a bribe now even if they wanted to because SWIFT and credit cards are shut down, but the fact that they pushed this news into the public domain tells me that those types of options are long gone anyway.
