Despite Tokyo being in a COVID state of emergency, the Tokyo Olympics look like they're going ahead because Japan signed a legal contract with the IOC who won't cancel them. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/more-s ... r-BB1gUEqx

So let's discuss all things Olympics here!

Women's football/soccer

Women's basketball
https://www.fiba.basketball/olympics/women/2020/groups

Women's handball
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Handbal ... tournament

Women's indoor volleyball

This might be the year that USA women’s volleyball team will get the gold. Though I’m a fan of Serbia.

Don’t know any currently. Marleen van Iersel was in the last 2 olympics. Kira Walkenhorst but she is retired. Volleyball in general doesn’t have as many lesbians as football and basketball sadly.

I feel sorry for Tokyo. With them having another wave and all, it sounds like they don't what this. It's gonna get even exponentially harder to find countries willing to take on the Olympics and the IOC forcing this on Tokyo right now isn't going to help. Every time a host nomination, fewer and fewer countries want to take on that burden. But go ahead and tick off the ones that are willing!

I do feel bad for her that she would be left without an avenue for competition without taking the drugs. The fairest thing, all the way around would be for "men's" events be inclusive for anyone to compete in.

I didn't say win. I don't think anyone is owed the right to dominate. just the space to try to compete. which would be there. she just wouldn't win like she used to. intersex with elevated testosterone levels don't need to be in "women's" (or born just XX) sports. but they deserve to be able to be able to try in the men's group, even if they identify as women. Anyone should be able to try in the men's group, because it doesn't make a difference. It doesn make a difference in women's.

The qualification time for the men's 800m for Tokyo is 1:45.20 (source: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/47529351)
Caster Semenya's best 800m time is: 1:54.25 (source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caster_Semenya)

Her elevated testosterone levels gives her an edge over others. And she doesn't wanna lose that benefit because it's natural for her. But she won't be able to qualify in the men's oh well

Yeah, that's why you see her trying to stay in the women's section. I wouldn't be shocked if they'd let her compete in the men's if she wanted but she doesn't want to because she knows her times are nowhere near even just qualification levels.

Two-time Olympic 800m gold medallist Caster Semenya has failed in her latest attempt to secure her place at the Tokyo Olympics, finishing outside the qualifying mark for the 5,000m.

The 30-year-old South African finished in 15 minutes 32.15 seconds in Durban - 22.15secs outside the qualifying time.

Semenya can't compete in events between 400m and a mile without taking testosterone-reducing drugs because the governing body World Athletics introduced a new rule about testosterone levels in 2019 and Semenya refuses to take testosterone-reducing drugs. Semenya has twice failed in legal battles to overturn the World Athletics decision.
I do feel bad for her that she would be left without an avenue for competition without taking the drugs. The fairest thing, all the way around would be for "men's" events be inclusive for anyone to compete in.
It wouldn't make a difference for Semanya since she can't compete with them.

i do realize that. but most people who have the xy chromosome don't qualify for the olympics, doesn't mean they should be given the right to dominate purely xx athletes instead. When I said she should have the chance to compete with men, I didn't mean that she should automatically go to the olympics. She should compete with anyone else with the xy chromosome to see who qualifies. And no, she probably wouldn't. But that isn't the point. The point is that to protect what is now "women's" sports, men's has to be open to anyone else. That's only fair for everyone.

i do realize that. but most people who have the xy chromosome don't qualify for the olympics, doesn't mean they should be given the right to dominate purely xx athletes instead. That's only fair for everyone.
er, who says that they aren't? Is there a rule somewhere? Like you said, Semenya doesn't even want to, she hasn't even tried to.

Some do and some don't. Even if they do take hormones, they retain a physical edge over bio women

Even with hormone therapy, transwomen still retain size, strength, bone density etc if they already went through a male puberty. Veronica Ivy is still huge compared to bio women as you can see in this image below.

They will never be bio women, never, no matter how hard they try. Simple as that.
