Presuming it was filmed in the US, but Cait wearing her claddagh will be the confirmation or not. And Macca's scar, ahah.
Hmmm Macca doesn’t look to have the scar in the thumbnail, so will be interesting! I’m thinking Dubai…but then why wait so long to release it?!
Wouldn't be the first time Mac's scar has been photoshopped out recently 😂. With Lani in a jumper, I wouldn't put it past it being filmed in Melbourne, if we're thinking it's not from Florida. The days leading up to the Melb game after they landed weren't particularly hot. As anon said above though, Macca's scar and Cait's claddagh will be the tell tale signs. Easy enough to photoshop a photo rather than the video. We'll find out in just over an hour.
Youfoodz photoshopped her scar out on all the photos but you can see it still bandaged in the video. So doubt the tillies will have managed to cut it out of the video, so if her scar is there we know it was filmed in the most recent camp. I’m sure the jacket alanna has on was only used in the latest camp, it’s a newer darker one I hadn’t seen before that a few wore in their media stuff.
You can see Lani & Macca wearing it in Melbs on slide 4.

Isn’t that the old teal sort of colour one? This is a new blue one I thought? Anyway, guess we will find out soon!

Oh, that is a really good point because she definitely had that scar at the Texas camp. Could this possibly have been filmed in the Dubai camp?

Judging by Alana’s jacket which was new stuff at the last camp, have they photoshopped Macca’s scar out 😂😂

Think it's something they typically do. Film a lot of content, mull over, edit it and post later on. Like the Harper squad announcement. That was filmed in Canada but used for the Uzbekistan games.

TRIO CONTENT DROPPING TONIGHTYTTTT
AHHHHHH YESSSSSSSS. So excited. Have Marildas done “team chat” videos before or is this a new thing?
They did one in 2022 with Steph, Lydia & Chloe. Not sure if they’ve done any others.
OOOHH just watched the Steph & Lydia vid, hosted by Chloe. It's pretty near identical to best friends quiz part 1 & 2. So tonight is def going to be part 3!! I wonder who is going to host this time, Cait or Mac???

Leaving part 1 & 2 for a rewatch (if you don't do it regularly, haha)
Here is the original best friends quiz they did in 2019. Love they're averaging one every 2 or so years, haha.

Lmao the way Lans was the worst best friend first and then it was Cait in the second one. Guess it should be Mac's turn for the third one 😂😭🤣

By the way, that is another tell tale indicator at least, not to say sign, that people "spend much time together or have had meaningful (to them) conversations over a period of time, when their accents become similar. Another example of this would be (since Danielle van de Donk was just mentioned) Miedema who just sounded like Scottish Lisa Evans after all those years. But hey, who in Europe says marsupial everyday since they are only to be found in zoos up here).
Miedema's Scottish accent will never not be funny to me (I think she didn't speak great english when she met her ex and that is why her accent is so strong now).

I have noticed Ellie's accent has softened quite a bit these last couple of years. She used to sound (and I mean no disrespect) like an absolute bogan. I suppose spending your days with people form whom english is not their first language you would naturally learn to speak in a more "neutral" accent.
Two things:
1. The "OL accent" is actually across the OL team or at the very least players who have been there +2 seasons. I think it's partly because OL imposes mandatory French lessons for their international players (for good cause - learn the local language!), and because of that the accent naturally becomes more diluted. Even subconsciously your brain starts to pick up the cadence of the second language and because of that, the intonation of your primary language begins to change. Your brain is literally adapting to its environment. #LinguisticsIsMyPassion

2. Daan and Ellie get a lot of hate (see the recent anon comments) but I think it really gets overlooked how much a relationship must mean to someone if they are willing to learn a completely different foreign language ... just because the person you like speaks it. Usually language is separated into categories: A is your primary language, B is your second language, C is your third, etc. For Ellie, obviously English is her first, so A language. French would - arguably - be her second, and that's just because she's been at OL longer than she has known Daan. The team also speaks French, she's living in France, all of that good stuff. But she deliberately chose to pick up a C language simply because Daan speaks it. There was no other reason for her to learn Dutch.

Like, Dutch isn't an easy language to learn. It's really not. But Ellie still learnt it, by choice, because Daan is Dutch, and so she knows that learning Dutch would mean a lot to Daan. Like if you think about it Ellie didn't have to learn Dutch because Daan already speaks English. But she still made a point to learn Dutch, and now is good enough in it that she can at the very least respond to written comments in it.

Everyone has their own way of showing they care. But learning a whole language for someone just because you speak it? That's easily the most romantic shit someone can do for you, hands down.

Well, I think it might not be so much "for the other person" but rather "for themselves" because in these kind of relationships people want sth from the other woman, and in this case it is wanting to be like them which entails their mother tongue. Pun not intended. There is a different type of dynamic in same sex relationships. :spy:
Apart from that let's not forget that they have a significan age gap as well which probably plays a role in their relationship dynamic as well even though Carpenter is a very experienced footballer for her age. Danielle seems caring and affectionate, so that is probably another aspect that pulled her apart from the common soccer interest and career. Even though one has to admit that maybe Carpenter wants to rather impress van de Donk by learning Dutch which seems to be yet another part of that kind of relationship dynamic in general. Women want to be impressed or rather usually it is those that are not allowed to be mentioned here that want to impress women. But impressing seems to have to take place either in both directions or someone takes over the impressing role.
^I think this is the same person who said they will break up when they don’t play for the same club anymore?
Different question: Which couple has stayed together when they didn't play at the same club or same national team anymore? Carpenter's van de Donk was with Beth Mead for as long as they played at the same club. And Carpenter and van de Donk have only been together for as long as they are at OL together which makes sense because this is where they got to know each other in the first place. The only example that comes to mind is Eriksson/Harder when Harder had her Wolfsburg interlude. But they got to know each other at Linköping FC and then played together at Chelsea and now Munich. I doubt that van de Donk will play at any Aussie club in the future, but Carpenter seems likely to stay at a European club anyway. But when van de Donk retires and does what (not sure what her future career would look like, sports commentator maybe? Any ideas?), Carpenter despite having been in the game for quite a long time, still has much time ahead of her as a player as she is only 24. some

Daan is also a lot more confident when she speaks English now. I remember their DAZN interview in 2022 she was struggling to say some words (marsupial was one lol) and instead of pressuring her Ellie patiently waited while she sounded it out and repeated the word back to her. You’d naturally pick up tendencies that way. Daan def has an Aussie twang now lol it’s cute. Ellie’s has evolved too and when you consider that she’s learning Dutch as well as French it makes sense that it is kind of melting together a bit. How dedicated she has been to learning that language has been so sweet. It’s a tough one to learn but she jumped right in

So interesting to me how her accent has evolved over the last few years. Ellie’s has too. Both are much softer versions of what they were before. Like you can tell Daan is Dutch but it’s not so intense, the same way you can tell Ellie’s Australian but it’s not as heavy now. It’s likely a combo of softening it so they are easier to understand since many of their teammates are French/predominantly speak French, learning French themselves, and living with each other so adopting some of each others tendencies

Have comments been deleted? Can’t see any hate towards Ellie or Daan recently.

The full video link is in the Instagram account bio, but this is a cute video. Ellie picks Sam and talks about how great she is in the locker room + on and off the pitch. Danielle picks Steph and talks about how they were teammates at Arsenal for a few years. Attached is the clip of Daan talking about Steph 😊

It’s a tough one to learn but she jumped right in
By the way, that is another tell tale indicator at least, not to say sign, that people "spend much time together or have had meaningful (to them) conversations over a period of time, when their accents become similar.

Can’t believe someone got upset that Caitlin and Katie were mentioned in a conversation about ACCENTS and how their potential future kid would have a wild one.

The thread started as an Ellie/Daan topic yes, but then morphed when someone commented about each Aussie player and their international wag in the context of accents and how they all pick up slight twangs based on their partner. Then it further morphed by someone saying it will be interesting when the “above couples” have kids and what their accents will be. The “above couples” mentioned were Kirsty/Macca, Kristie/Sam, Kat/EVE, Daan/Ellie, Katie/Caitlin.

So literally no issues in the flow of the convo.
I don’t have an issue with the convo flow and no one else should either. I do have an issue with the one comment trying to act like Ellie and Daan were “inserted into” into a conversation about Mini/Clara. That’s so laughably incorrect. The whole convo started because of Daan/Ellie.

On the topic of Ellie/Daan specifically in relation to language it’s wildly impressive how hard Ellie has worked to learn Dutch. In Danielle’s documentary from 2022 Ellie was learning and speaking Dutch even then. I’d imagine she has improved significantly since. She moved to France and became fluent in French really fast. It wouldn’t surprise me if she can hold her own through a conversation in Dutch by now too
Is it wildy impressive tho? Her (now) fiancé is Dutch. Pretty normal to learn the language your partner speaks. My girlfriend is German and I learnt German to be able to convanerse with her family when I visited. And tbh most Europeans speak more than 2 languages. I agree it’s impressive Ellie has learnt both French and Dutch simultaneously tho! Just think it’s more normal than we, as Australians, think.
Yes it is wildly impressive. She’s living in France. Therefore she’s immersed in that language and it’s easier to learn. She’s learning Dutch essentially from one person. I assume she probably takes online lessons now too but she lives with one person who probably speaks Dutch regularly at home. She is not immersed in the Dutch language the same way she is just existing anywhere in France
However, she seems to be immersed with someone that has great meaning to her and since meaningful, comprehensible input is a criterion for language learning, she would pick it up super fast. Especially with Denialle's 1:1 tutoring...in all kinds of areas of life... :$
But apart from that. How long would all this be lasting. There are so many relationships in the female soccer world that didn't last for various reasons. Distancewise this would only work as long as they are both either at the same club or playing at a European club.
Da. So if Daan retires next year they are going to break up because they aren’t playing for the same club?

Do we think Sam will go to the olympics as a support coach? I’ve heard that she would apparently be able to do that, though I have no idea if it’s true. I can see she’d be a massive morale boost to the team.
No i think Sam would just be there to support but not a coach or anything. Tbh what FA did to Sam after her legal case fiasco i think she would just want to play for Matildas and that’s it… she wouldn’t want to be associated with them other than being one of the player
I agree. I think the statement FA released was sooooo crap and just made more hate come Sam’s way. Very irresponsible and wouldn’t blame her if she wanted distance. If the court case gets dropped, I think she’ll come. If it’s not dropped before then, she might stay away to avoid the media attention. Focus should be on the players of course, and Sam will want that 100%.

She will support the girls 100% whether watching it live or supporting them privately. And I agree, Sam always gets the attention whenever she’s with other Matildas i think this time she would want them to be the “star” and would be getting all the credit no matter where they ended up in Olympics

Excited to see who will get chosen in the 18 players though. Would be sad getting dropped at the last minute

It is not likely. The Olympic staff tends to be a scaled down version to what a World Cup staff would be

All she bringing in is herself and her card for this wedding haha
Lol, she did start that wedding playlist and followed some wedding related pages on IG. Give her a break!

And on that note, does anyone think there's a chance they might get married at the end of the year?
Sam is so funny, she will always be my favourite. Have such a sweet spot for her. Kristie compliments her so well and is so funny #goHAMMIES

I actually always thought they’d be getting married during Summer here in Aus! It will have been a year since their engagement party, and I think they want to get married fairly quickly. I can see it over the Christmas break - tho not sure if that would be too hot.
I could see it being over Christmas break. Lynn Williams is getting married in there somewhere too and Sam Mewis is a bridesmaid for her. Lynn’s fiancé is from Aus too so idk if they’re getting married here or the US. For Sam and Kristie maybe after the Olympics is a possibility too?
EVE is getting married this year too and her and Sam are very close. Both getting married in Aus would make attending each others very easy

Yes it is wildly impressive. She’s living in France. Therefore she’s immersed in that language and it’s easier to learn. She’s learning Dutch essentially from one person. Da. Dutch is way easier to learn than French, especially if you’re an English speaker! If anyone is wanting to start learning a language, definitely recommend Dutch.
lol imagine being so against Ellie being praised for anything you’re trying to diminish the fact that she’s learning a new language because it’s “easy”
??? Seems like you are being a bit over-sensitive here. All the other anon said is that Dutch is an easier language to learn than French, not that it's an easy language to learn. DA

Huh? I’m an Ellie fan lol. Just was replying to the anon above who said learning French would be way easier given she lives in France. I disagree, French isn’t an easy language to pick up. Dutch is widely known as being one of the easiest languages for an English speaker to learn, and from personal experience - I recommend starting with Dutch before moving to French or German.

My girlfriend is German and I learnt German to be able to converse with her family when I visited.

Just vibes
All she bringing in is herself and her card for this wedding haha
Lol, she did start that wedding playlist and followed some wedding related pages on IG. Give her a break!

And on that note, does anyone think there's a chance they might get married at the end of the year?

Didn’t Ellie receive intensive French lessons from the club? I think it’s part of their contract to be able to learn and speak the language so training etc. isn’t disrupted.
Yes, players at the top D1 clubs have French lessons paid for. Clare Hunt takes them too, they do it so that training sessions and communication with staff are easier. Her learning Dutch alongside that is impressive though and should not be brushed off. Dutch is a tough language to learn on its own so to be learning it while also learning French is very cool. It’s different when you’re an adult doing it vs a kid growing up learning multiple languages and not knowing any different

Yep it is written into their contract, just like most European clubs! I also think it’s a lot easier to learn a language when you’re living somewhere! You become fully immersed and pick up things so much quicker.

The topic had shifted to Mini and Clara. And then it was reverted back to Ellie/Daan again. So essentially the anon who got annoyed that the convo changed to Caitlin/Katie is kinda hypocritical when they too changed the convo from Mini/Clara to Ellie/Daan, that’s all. The whole thing is stupid, just think there is no need for people to get offended if their fav player/couple isn’t centre of attention. Reply to an earlier comment if you don’t like the direction the convo has gone in.
Exactly this. The complaining is so unnecessary. Either scroll past if you don't like the topic or the shift in topic and reply to a post where you want to continue the discussion. It's really not that hard.
