Her draw in Berlin is just madness from the start. Nazi chick in first round, Big Aryna in second. What a time to be a Kasatkina's fan! LOL
I think she can rock on grass tho.

The coach is a problem. I doubt he can see Dasha's potential and develop it.
I don't think he's a problem, but I don't see how his presence makes a difference. Watching Dasha's games over the last two seasons, I feel like Martinez's influence is slowly fading. Her serve is still a pain...
Why was he chosen by Dasha? He has zero experince in coaching or WTA. The only reason is that unlike Martinez, he supports the vlog and praises it. A tennis player who is serious about being a top player would never work with someone like him.
It was her agent who found a coach for her. She was grateful because it was difficult to do in a short time. I don't think she had many options. But this agent has more influence than his position requires.

Cipolla is a convenient person for everyone, that's clear. But who is the captain on their team who rates his work? He switched off her legwork for example which led to her flopped clay season. Maybe he's trying to reinvent her style, idk. But of course this would require more dedication on the court without being distracted by extraneous things.

Just watched the video posted above. Why does she tell them "don't be scared"? This darling went abroad to dare just to open her mouth. What happened to the “Russian airspace” she is avoiding? I'm glad Russians don't watch CBS because it's borderline insulting.
She looks better when she doesn't talk about serious matters. Someone on her team needs to fix her script.
It's not a script, it's just what she wants to do these days. She likes to actively campaign against the Russian government in all of her interviews, to all media, not just CBS. Almost all vlog episodes have at least 1 or 2 short jokes about how oppressive the Russian government is.

I think it's likely that if 20 years from now Putin's government is not in power anymore, she will recieve some really high position in the Tennis Federation from the new leaders.
DA
Didn't know about jokes. Sounds not funny for me at all. Tone deaf, as well as her "don't be scared" comment.

What a strange, but entertaining comment. Is she campaigning really? Via this video, for example? This is a some piece of a low quality television. I understand now seal clapping stans will eat anything, but should be some basic standards there?
Jokes? Is this her activism? This is travesty.

To the second part... Why should a national sport body hire a long-gone immigrant? See no logic.
DA
Look, you're trying to have a conversation with someone who think the US media is an oracle of truth. Of course she’s taking all of it deadly seriously!

DA Can you get over it already ? She is not a top player. She doesn't have the talent and game to a be a top player. She still makes money and is the top 20. She is doing much better than most of the tour. There are several top 20 players who never achieve anything. Only a few certain women can be the top players
You don't understand tennis and sports in general.

OP
She wanted a cool guy on the team who wouldn't stress her out. The problem is that this is the job of a coach in sports - to strain. I remember peak Kasatkina several years ago battling Mugu and other champs, now it is almost a mythical creature. And he simply had understanding her as a player. Her tennis was more entertaining because the coach was more demanding. Now she's top15-20, so what? This is just boring.

Does anyone take this kind of content seriously? I'm surprised that the media is still milking her.

The question is this: Is she a tennis player who also talks about some social, political issues sometimes or is she an activist who also plays some tennis sometimes?
She is a top tennis player who stands out for what she believes in. What's the problem here? Losing some matches, so what? Everything in our social life is actually POLITICAL. And she is not a nobody whose voice can hardly be heard or matters. That's why she is literally the bravest tennis player. You see shady things because you are shady yourself.
She started with saying things like "no politics, just love each other and be kind" and now when she is asked what her message is to Russia, she repeats Navaly's slogan. That's as political as she can get. And she invites every Russian player to the vlog, but never invites or even mentions Kudermetova, as her husband is a Putin supporter. In the Madrid vlog, she had a joke about not having any rights. At least she could admit that she is very much involved with politics and drop the "we should all love everyone" act.
When was the last time she said that? :hmmm: because I can‘t remember hearing her say that in the recent years. So if it‘s a few years ago, she probably changed her mind. People grow up, evolve and reevaluate things, especially if their own country is involved in a war.

Her serve has cost her so many points. It’s frustrating to see no change there when everyone and their mother can identify the glaring issue. Not expecting a Serena Williams serve, but SOME progress.

I had a feeling that I wouldn’t get the opportunity to see Dasha’s match against a more worthy opponent, so I decided to watch the match against Stearns. What was that? It was worse than I expected. I would like to ask Dasha and her coach what they do during training? Kick the can down the road? Dasha looked completely unprepared, it was such a disappointment.

She should lose some weight. Same with Ostapenko and Blinkova. I was watching Blinkova with people who never watch tennis and they wondered how fat people can play at the top tournaments.
She certainly can't fix any other part of her game so she should at least work on her fitness.

Are we forgetting what Osaka is capable of and how much power she has?
Mark my words, she'll be back in the top 10 soon.

I didn't think Dasha had a terrible match. Yes, I was expecting a bit more, but overall I'm not mad, she was pushing the serve more, even the second. She got few double faults because was forcing. Some combination to push Osaka out wide and make her run were really beautiful, I guess that was her game plan, but couldn't execute consistently because... well, Osaka didn't let her.
Naomi wasn't good at clay ever, cmon. This is coping.
Funny, but with her today's level of tennis Dasha can rise to the top 10. The irony.
DA yeah it's crazy how she will rise to the top 10 while playing so bad

I'm thinking if the episode with Iga is going to be Rome or maybe even Roland Garros. I thought it was going to be Madrid because Dasha said something like "we talked and I'm waiting for her" (which made me think she was waiting for here there, in Madrid), but since the Madrid vlog is already out so it seems like the talk they had was about her agreeing to participate in one of the next episodes.

The Mirra interview was great. They really vibe great together and I don't want to be a weirdo considering how young Andreeva is, but she's a flirt lol. The only thing that made me scratch my head was how both of them totally misinterpreted #cakegate from last year and it makes you see why current WTA players would never be able to carry the legacy and fight of the original WTA players. Absolutely clueless, even the more intelligent ones such as Dasha and Mirra.

Otherwise I prefer Natalia with dark hair too.

Everyone is talking about the big 3 now. But see at least 2 of them lose before the QF at RG by a random journey woman =_=
Sadly i don't think Daria is able to beat them, maybe Rybakina i guess.

I want her to finally win a big tournament. With a good draw and luck she can reach the RG semifinal.

Also completely off topic but i noticed that Rybakina's Russian best friend is dating some Mexican woman for several years now.
They have couple tik toks and stuff. I randomly found it today.

Dasha is having a great season because she wins all her close matches, all the close sets, tiebreakers, everything. It's so interesting to see after 2023 when she literally lost ALL close sets.

This year she won the final sets tiebreaks aginst Pegula and Haddad Maia. Here in Madrid, she came back from 2-5 in the 2nd set in the 1st round and now won both close sets against Nastia. Her only losses are matches where she is clearly outplayed by the opponent.

She is in the top10 now on the Race.
