Gorgeous family 😊 so happy for Mini and Clara, what an exciting time. These photos are beautiful!
If Mini makes the Olympic roster, will that mean Clara (and Mini’s mom) will be wrangling a toddler AND caring for a newborn at the Olympics? Whew.
I'd be surprised if Clara went tbh! She'll be like a month post partum and surely it isn't really recommended to bring your baby to massive crowded events before their immunisations/when they are so young and vulnerable to germs etc. Harper will likely be with Mini's mum.
I think if Mini makes it they make it work and switch off on baby/Harper care for a game if Clara’s recovery has gone well and baby is healthy and all of that. It’ll probably be Mini’s last international tournament, Clara wouldn’t miss it even if she had to go in a limited capacity. I don’t think she’d go to every game, she’d likely stay back at their hotel/airbnb/whatever with baby for most of it but she def goes to a game if Mini makes it
Da they also don’t have to travel a long way from London to get to Paris, and don’t even have to fly. I think if the Olympics were somewhere farther away she wouldn’t go that soon postpartum but with them being so close it’s not as difficult.

Cait & Lani's comments 🤣 I did question when I first saw the post why only Steph was named and not Caitlin, haha.
Looks like the post has been deleted? What was it and who posted it?
LOL what a fail. It was a post from Optus Sport about the FA Cup final and their broadcast info. It was a pic of Sam holding the FA cup plus a list of Aussies who had played in an FA Cup final (they're hyping up Spurs and Charli for tomorrow). Caitlin and Alanna weren't on the list despite playing in a final, so Caitlin commented "didn't make the cut" and then Lani replied to her comment saying she didn't either. Very funny. They're probably editing it and will reupload.
😂😂😂 classic optus. Gotta love Cait and Lans for being so quick to point out their omissions.

Was curious if anyone has met any players, what are they like in person? (Any and all of them, regardless of club!)
I met Sam Kerr, Caitlin Foord and Mackenzie Arnold in the bathroom of Bagatelle in Soho! They were all very very drunk and absolutely hilarious. I’ve also met Georgia Stanway and she was a sweetheart. She was with another lioness player who was an absolute bitch lol but won’t name names as I think she was just having a bad day.
When you say the Aussies were very drunk, what were they doing?
I assume they were really drunk. They just seemed really happy and were kinda goofing off together. Macca was singing and Caitlin and Sam had their arms around each other and were swaying side to side together like you’d do at a concert lol. I didn’t talk to them they just kinda apologised for being in the way and we all laughed. I was super star struck by Sam so don’t think I’d have been able to talk anyway!
Seems very very on brand 😂😂

Whilst regularly playing would hold importance over everything else dont you also think that being on a team where they wont concede 5 every week is important? teagan is at a better team with a much better defence and by proxy, wont concede as many. So naturally in a 'battle' between the two then teagan will always look like the better keeper. I AM NOT TRYING TO START A DEBATE IM JUST SAYING WEST HAM ARE CRAP AND DONT MAKE MAC LOOK GOOD, THAT IS ALL. So if the reason for macca moving is because she wants to keep the tillies jersey then maybe her best chance is around europe.
FWIW, i think teagan will be starting by the time it gets to the asian cup regardless.
I understand you don’t want to start a debate and I agree with you on all points. If Teagan stays healthy, which I am crossing all the things she does, she’s gunning for that spot back. As she was always going to be.We know things would have been different without the monster head injury. Which is why Mackenzie has (totally rightfully, I’d have done the same) jumped on every sponsorship opportunity that has come her way. Being the starter in the WC due to the kismet of perfect timing is not lost on her. I’m sure it’s in the back of her mind. And now she has set herself up brilliantly money and sponsor wise for when Teagan (eventually, she’s not just waltzing in and taking it back lol) overtakes her.

I do see the point that she needs to be somewhere with a better back line so she looks better and maybe their competition for the 1 spot stays closer, but starting on a team where your back line sucks is better than being on the bench for a team where the back line is better. I could see her at Villa if DVD (goalkeeper version) goes, but United would be a nightmare. I’d hate to see her there, especially if Earps stays and she takes PTJ’s bench spot or if she goes assuming she’d start over PTJ and then doesn’t.
DA. Fully agree with all points. Mac and her team have been very smart in the way they have gone about taking advantage of opportunities that have presented themselves post WC, and she is doing a good job of making herself marketable beyond the present time, and will continue to make money from sponsorships and the book deal etc regardless of whether teagan takes the starting spot or not.
Personally I can't see her at Villa, nor can I really see her being United's starting keeper so that sort of leaves West Ham, Palace?, Spurs (their starting keepers contract is up this summer), or going abroad as her options realistically. I could see her and Kirsty being on separate teams in England and making it work, but question is whether both would live abroad, or if they would be content to do long distance for a season or so. I know people will say "if they are meant to be together they will figure it out, its not forever etc", but going from living together practically your entire relationship to then living in different countries is hard and not something that some people would want to do. I certainly wouldnt.
I can't see Macca at Villa too but if she goes, she can still live with Kirsty and drive 2 hours to Birmingham for training. Personally I think she will be kept in West Ham. If Kirsty doesn't get a new contract then she can play for Palace or London City Lioness. She will still be in London. If she plays for Brighton, the training ground is about an hour drive away. They can still be together.
Alternatively do a Harder/Erikssen ; they were long distance for 3 years until they reunite in Chelsea. This year is their 10th anniversary together.

For the Aussie No. 1 spot we all know Teagan is better although Macca isn't bad. I reckon she herself knows she will most likely lose the No. 1 spot for the Olympics to Teagan but will still make the squad.
I don’t think she’s losing the spot to Teagan for the Olympics, no. Definitely after that. But not before unless she has a shocker in one of the prep games or something. Teagan is just now truly coming back into herself and showing glimpses of what we know she can be and what she was on her way to being before the injury. Olympics are probably too soon to give her the spot back unless she starts a prep game and plays lights out or something
Spoken like a real Tilly fan. And the internationals think Aussie GKs are average. :dance2:

I don’t think she’d be a starter anywhere but WH or Villa. All signs point to van Domselaar staying at Villa. If Earps leaves United, they have Phallon Tillies-Joyce to take over. Mac would be on the bench. She needs to be somewhere she’s starting regularly. Now that Teagan is well and truly back to full fitness and finishing this season with the 1 spot for her club (which is what Liverpool bought her for, she’ll keep it now as long as she maintains form) they will be in a battle for the first spot for the Tillies that they’ve never really been in before. It’ll be crucial to be starting week in week out for their clubs. I think staying at WH where she’s the undisputed number one is the best thing for Mac. She runs the risk of being benched at Villa or United

Lydia will get minutes. That’s about the only certain thing about this window as far as the game decisions will go. She’ll certainly play. Likely split a game with Teags. Absolutely zero chance she doesn’t see the field in what’ll be her last opportunity to do so.
Maybe Macca to get 1 full game, Teagan a half and Lyds a half. Or Macca game and a half, Lydia a half. Something like that maybe. However in all honesty given the few games left before olympics, and I know I will get hate for this because she is a legend and deserves a send-off..I think its a waste to give a half or more to lydia. She wont see the field in the olympics and given the changing back line, injuries and working out rotations and stuff I would rather see Macca in there for most of it if shes the one who will play come the summer. More time on the field together the better.
Lydia is a legend, she will get minutes, and yes you are a complete and utter asshole for even suggesting she doesn’t deserve them. It’s not a waste whatsoever. Learn your damn Tillies history, ffs. Some of you new fans are sickening. Teagan will split the game with her, guaranteed. It won’t be Macca for a game and a half. Teagan has been great for Liverpool their last few games and there’s no better way to give her a brief run out than splitting a game with Lyds. Bet you didn’t know Teagan carried our Olympic campaign in 2021, did you? Lydia is why she stayed so calm and composed. She will openly say that to anyone who asks. Equal pay fight? Lydia led it. Players having a union? Also Lydia. Some of you are going to be verrrrrrrry shocked when Teagan gets the spot back eventually by the sounds of things. The way you’re talking you don’t seem to realize Teegan and Lydia were 1/2 and Mac was dropped/thurs string at best as recently as 2022. Lydia has been the backbone of this squad for almost 20 years. Put some damn respect on her name.
What an over reaction. We all love Lydia. I'm hoping she gets some minutes!! But why is it a surprise if she isn't picked given they have only two more friendly opportunities before the olympics and she isn't #1 or #2? These friendlies are ALL about team cohesiveness and getting familiar with each other and the game plan ahead of the games. If anything I can imagine her doing the Arsenal game and that being her send-off. She'll still get an event celebration at the Sydney game for sure and they'll do a presentation there. But realistically she is past her prime, coming back from injury and doesn't need the practice before the olympics?! That does NOT mean she isn't well liked, respected and appreciated.
These games aren’t the last opportunity, first of all. They’re just the home send off games. There’s one more window before the Olympics. So again, YES Lydia will get minutes and YES she will deserve them.
That is why I said two friendly opportunities - this break and the last break before the game. She might get half a game in Adelaide or Sydney, no disputing that. But it won't be surprising if Tony chooses his #1 and #2 to get the experience. You're super emotionally involved and acting like people are saying she is a horrible player who doesn't deserve to step foot on the field. Calm down.

Will be interested to see whether they include one of Lyds or Jada or both. Probably unlikely they'll get any minutes anyway as much as I'd like to see Lyds get some more minutes before she retires.

I am the OP who said about Lydia not maybe needing a half a game given the lack of friendlies before the Olympics. I was absolutely not trying to insinuate that she doesn’t deserve the minutes or a big send off, and I am fully aware of her impact on the team. I was simply saying that given there aren’t many match opportunities prior to the Olympics, is it completely necessary for 45 mins of the available time to be given to someone who won’t be involved in the Olympics? I was not trying to be disrespectful towards her or her legacy at all. Just thought maybe a short cameo would be sufficient, not a half necessarily. Didn’t mean any offence.

Will be interested to see whether they include one of Lyds or Jada or both. Probably unlikely they'll get any minutes anyway as much as I'd like to see Lyds get some more minutes before she retires.
These games aren’t the last opportunity, first of all. They’re just the home send off games. There’s one more window before the Olympics. So again, YES Lydia will get minutes and YES she will deserve them.

Yeah, sqaud announcement is imminent. To be fair, I think at least 3/4 of the squad is pretty obvious. Only a few spots up for grabs that are uncertain due to players coming back from injury.

No way Mini is included even if she was fully recovered (which she's not). Clara is due like the week after the Sydney game. No way Mini would even think of risking being stuck on the other side of the world if Clara were to suddenly go into labour early.

Adelaide is officially sold out again on Ticketek!! And Sydney only has single seats available.

There are some available to purchase on ticketek marketplace (61 for ADL, 244 for SYD).
Ellie will need to be rested for the Adelaide game as she’ll be coming off the Champion’s League final, she’ll no doubt go 90 in it. It sets up a perfect opportunity for Charli to start and hopefully play a full game in her hometown!! Wonderful

I just hope that if players are leaving their clubs due to contracts expiring, it’s announced prior to their last games of the season. The players and their teams fans deserve the chance to say goodbye and thank you. IIRC West Ham often don’t do this - I think Lucy Parker and Grace Fisk leaving last summer wasn’t confirmed until end of June?
There are a lot of things from men’s football that I hope don’t cross over into the womens game, but honesty about contract lengths and reporting around contracts and transfers is definitely something I hope does get better. I understand not saying salaries and fees and what not, but there’s no reason for clubs to withhold information regarding length of contracts like some clubs in the WSL are known for doing.

I know everyone keeps talking about the WSL because logistics and Kirsty, but are there any rumours or is any club in Europe looking for a GK that Macca would consider? I really only follow the A League and WSL so not too sure about the Euro leagues.
I think people are assuming she might stay in the WSL because its an english speaking country, she has a life here now, has friends and aussie teammates at every corner, seems settled etc to uproot your life to have to learn a new language, make all new friends, new league + being away from your partner, that is all quite a lot to do and perhaps only something she would do as a last resort.

I was wondering why Amy Harrison wasn't included in the All Stars team, so they would at least have an experienced RCB.. but I just saw she's in the US visiting Kaylie, so that'd explain it 😂.
Just checked the squad and was surprised by no Sarina Bolden. Heavy Tillies bias but I was expecting that. Is the game streaming anywhere? Going, but our seats aren't great, was hoping to catch the replay later.
No Bolden is truly wild, even with the expected Tillies bias. The game will be on 10 and Paramount Plus i believe

Nandozie will always start in PFC when fit. She regularly makes big saves during penalties and has been their number one since two season.

I know everyone keeps talking about the WSL because logistics and Kirsty, but are there any rumours or is any club in Europe looking for a GK that Macca would consider? I really only follow the A League and WSL so not too sure about the Euro leagues.
That’s a good question! I’m not sure. In D1 (the league where Ellie and Clare play) she wouldn’t start for PSG or Lyon but could probably make a pretty good case for herself for Paris FC? I don’t know what their current GK situation is though. Unsure on the other leagues, I really only keep an eye on D1 because of Ellie and Clare lol

I was wondering why Amy Harrison wasn't included in the All Stars team, so they would at least have an experienced RCB.. but I just saw she's in the US visiting Kaylie, so that'd explain it 😂.

The Optus article with the full list of WSL contracts (As correctly as the public information allows) that this discussion has come about from, states that Tullis Joyce only signed for a year so she would be leaving too. So if Earps leaves that could open up a spot for a starter. However, everything I hear about Skinner and the way he treats players, and the sort of friction behind the scenes and stuff, it doesnt exactly seem like somewhere you would maybe want to be.
Worth noting after this summer the next big tournament will be the home Asian cup in 2026, which is over a year and a half away so players might be taking a bigger picture thought process to their next moves.
PTJ’s transfer fee was record breaking for a GK leaving the NWSL, there’s no way she only signed for one year. Isobel’s info is likely incorrect there.
