That’s horrific scheduling.

Kinda a big deal for the Olympics since you figure she was suppose to be the starting pg
Based on the way it sounds seems like she won't be back for a long time maybe end of season and playoffs she will be back. I expect Martin to play a ton and maybe Fair will finally get minutes. Good thing the Aces are deep

That's a bullshit dirty play. Taurasi jumps to deliver that hit. They don't even allow that kind of bullshit in men's hockey.

She probably taking it easy to be ready for Olympics, it’s her first too and last , she already has wnba rings so she put Olympics first
Just means those minutes will be up for grabs in the meantime for Kate Martin if she performs.

Pretty pleased as an Aces fan. Between missing Chelsea and being just now basically where everyone else was before tip off since no one would play us in preseason (which: :gaypimp: but also ^o) ).

I knew Kate would come good this year but known bench-ignorer Becky trusting her this much in game 2? Damn. I really like what I'm seeing with her and Megan, few months in with the team and hopefully they're just steamrolling.
Not a aces fan but she remind me of hamby, she turn out to be a great player for u , she doesn’t need to be a starter and that’s good for her , she gives u good mins from the bench

Watching the other teams and looking at the schedule I’m starting to worry the Fever won’t win very many games. PHX, LA, and Mystics look like they have some fight in them and can give the bigger teams more challenges. I’m not sure about ATL yet. Who do y’all think the Fever has the best chance at beating or has more of equal match up?
No one if they keep shooting like the past 3 games or don't do anything on defense. Unless CC scores 80.

NWSL are more welcoming than WNBA community.
:eyeroll:

Umm read the whole convo you fool. WNBA community are filled with snoobish fans acting like only a certain race can be a "real" fan. Other league don't have that kind of attitude. If you want to grow the league then why you're acting like that. People can easily sway to other women league like NWSL who are more welcoming. The players are also more diverse with different kind of background. Just a thought for some gatekeeping fans who probably lurked in here, since most of them are in the other forum.

Salary cap circumvention.

If you think players should be paid more, put it in the CBA and raise the cap.
They need a lot to prove this is salary cap circumvention.

Would be shocked if this wasn’t ruled to be a sponsorship deal put together by an outside company who wanted good PR.
They are going to make them have contracts drawn up with players told to do some actual things outside of just paying for the Aces. But I would not be shocked if they put new rules in place to prevent this from n happening further.
But the main point is long term this isn’t great for players when you are going into CBA negotiations because the league/owners can continue to try not pay players their worth by relying on these types of sponsorship
They already said it's an endorsement deal done through player agents, not the team, and the players will be required to wear certain gear and make appearances promoting Vegas tourism just like the other influencers they sponsor.

Limiting sponsorships/endorsements in any way would be a weak ass move, so the league probably will do it. Even when the new CBA comes out it's still not going to be enough for players to do what pro athletes need, which is not only support themselves in the moment but save substantially for retirement.
The sponsorship itself is not the problem, it is how it came about and if the team had any involvement and if this was part of the deal to have players sign extension that are below their value.
It should have said is not the problem

Cheap owners are haters.
The PA likely has issues with this since players should be getting paid by their team and not taking pay cuts with the promise of under table deals to get money.
I am sure the Aces ownership has paid out their full salary cap. This issue is the salary cap isn’t big enough.

So not sure why the PA would be mad at players getting more than they otherwise would be allowed.

Thanks to the league for giving the two time defending champs coming off a historically winning season a reason to continue to have a giant chip on their shoulder. Glad to not have to worry about that.

Shocking: winning team with great facilities, great support staff, big fanbase, in a fun place to live, is attracting and keeping good players.

Kate getting legit minutes with the Aces is impressive.

I know it’s only one game and it’s against the Sparks, but this definitely means she’s getting some run against Caitlin and the Fever next Saturday.

I just yelled so loud on my couch. You would think I was sitting in Las Vegas.
K Money +11 last I heard and played more than half of the first half.

Even Curt giving her the props I am like a proud mother. Becky knows wtf she is doing drafting the gays lol
Everyone seems to be rooting for her. The crowd really went wild when she went in. Even the Sparks coach said the energy changed for the Aces with her play. I’m really impressed how much time she’s getting to play. I thought she wouldn’t get time on the court unless it was a blowout. But she’s holding her own out there.

I hope she gets some good sponsorships soon. She’s earning that 100,000!

Well even though New York still stomp the Fever most of the game… it felt not as frustrating? I mean, there was still plenty of TOs, missed shots, and OMG why did they do that? moments. But the rhythm felt better and Clark had strong moments that felt more like “Clark” of college play.

If the Fever could catch the ball in transition better or not make so many TOs when driving in or make more of the easier shots that they really should be making they’d be a different team. I’m really hoping those will improve as the season goes on.

Boston has been quiet, which is concerning. I know it’s early so there’s dusting off the rust, but she seems to be a little more out of it than other players. She’s also taken some hard hits to the face.
Yeah everyone saying Boston looks lost , maybe she needs time to get back into form , but with a few more games in this level would be worrying for fever
I wonder how much her doing tv is affecting her , she didn’t play overseas but she not the only player who don’t play oversee Wilson doesn’t either

I don’t love this by the Vegas, it is on the team and league to pay players what they deserve and not having other sources stepping in and paying players. If I am the WNBAPA I don’t like this at all going into CBA negotiations.
It’s called an endorsement. It’s extremely normal.

So many people on this thread have zero understanding of how sports work, yet speak as if the league should listen to them. It’s so stupid.

Like, how tf are people shocked that the team that got the number 1 pick is awful? Have you never watched pro basketball?!?!

da lol sure keep being in denial. lbr new casual fans only watch the games for Clark and other rookies like Brink or Reese. Maybe Paige can bring her zoomer fangirls next year, although I doubt it from what I've seen they have no understanding about the league or even basketball in general. But they clearly ain't staying to watch old players.
The conversation around the WNBA is changing, and its place in popular culture is getting a boost. Some people have built brands off that kind of buzz. So it's not overly optimistic to think that things will change, or that some of the gains will stay.

I also think people forget, or somehow haven't noticed, how different players are from years ago. Maybe it's because they're too busy comparing them to males. It's a very different game now, and players are also more glam.
Popular culture around the young players. None of the zoomers care about Plum Aja DT BG Stewie lol no matter how hard ESPN and other medias try to push old vets to the front. They only care about Reese Brink Clark and other rookies same with the next batch like Paige Kiki Juju HVL.

And trust me none of them will even stay when snobbish wnba twitter acting like every new fans are kkk out to get them lol. The same attitude like the wnba thread in the other forum. Bitter and angry. You can only talk about Clark negatively there. Why would you support a community like that? NWSL are more welcoming than WNBA community.
