As far as excuses go, this one has got to be preferable to the world learning you've got the shits.

Which players from each club are gay/straight?
Arsenal,

Gay/Bi: Manu, Katie M, Leah, Laia, Teyah, Lia, Viv, Frida, Kyra, Caitlin, Lina, Beth

Straight: Sabrina, Steph, Amanda, Laura, Lotte, Emily, Kim, Vic, Stina, Alessia, Cloe
I've never seen Kim with any man or women? Has she even had any relationship before? I know she is a private person but usually people can figure it out or there are rumors going around. Not seen or heard nothing in regards to Kim's love life
She is very private but back in the day, she was open that she had a male partner. They were together for several years actually. However, that same guy is now with Hannah Blundell. Don’t know when they split or why and haven’t heard of Kim’s relationships since and I doubt we ever will, she’s probably the most private and low-key player out of all the big clubs and isn’t into the whole media/pr side of things - she cba with social media either, in comparison to other players or even just the general population. I’m a similar age to Kim and I cba with social media either. I would happily go back to the good old Nokia days but alas, in this world, social media is part of our connection to keeping up with friends etc. I miss the days of calls and texts lol.
Yeah I’m a boring millennial basically.

DA not related but I don't want Kimmy to retired ever. She is our captain. The best one. Tbh I don't want LW to be our captain lol the fans of her are too much.
lol agreed i don’t want kim to retire. i just think she’s a presence that we can’t replace. she’s also still got it in her and still able to give something when she’s on the pitch, so i do hope she stays around a little longer.

as for leah, personally not too worried about her taking over. i do think she can and will do a good job as captain, she stepped up for england and i actually think it’ll be a good thing for her to need to step up for club as well. so yeah, not really got any issue with it from the perspective of her having that role. i do think her fans can be a bit much though, so agree with you there. while i don’t think it takes away from her necessarily, i think you have to admit it sometimes can make you a bit tired of seeing her name. just wish they could chill a little. but tbh i feel the same with a lot of players now. don’t hate them or root against them, just cba with fanbases.

anyway. i don’t think kimmy will actually be retiring this season. i think she’s got at least another in her, and that it’s likely she does still play next season. i think the season after that maybe she’ll retire? or she could maybe stay for a more reduced role before finally retiring? either way, i don’t think this season will be her last.

thoughts on how the english players got on today ?
keira + lj pretty much ghosted. i checked keira’s stats and they’re actually decent but still, didn’t even notice her throughout the game. lj was horrific though.

bronze was actually alright. usually don’t care much for her but i’ll give it to her that today she stepped up. 2nd best player in the first half and remained somewhat steady in the second half. not really any problems there.

bright had like 2 touches of the ball lol so you can’t really judge her. nice to see her back on the pitch though.
Yeah 100%. When I checked the ratings for the game, I wont lie I actually was genuinely shocked by Keira being rated quite well. Like no offence she’s a good player and all, but that was not her game. She was forgettable throughout and did nothing that even now I can think back on.

Tbf she was being asked to play the Ramirez/Kerr role of holding up play from a ball hoofed up long, it’s not her game. When the call was played to her feet she was very good at holding the ball and calming the Chelsea game down, which felt frantic at times because they couldn’t get the ball off Barca. She missed a sitter though :(

Bright shouldn’t have been brought on. If I were Kaneryd, I’d be pissed, especially considering she was Chelsea’s best player.
Hayes typically makes pointless non-impactful subs when she's down in a big game and doesn't know what else to do.

99.999999% of the time in football, when a team loses, someone on that team will claim they were robbed. either player(s) or the manager.

but to be fair here, there were definitely some iffy calls against chelsea tonight. and i know that if that was against my team, i’d be unhappy with it.

To be fair they did. I’m an Arsenal fan and very happy they got robbed. But it was never a red and it was a very very very soft penalty. Completely robbed but as long as they don’t win CL I don’t care. If it was Arsenal I’d be spewing.

There’s VAR but the second yellow wasn’t a play they can review. If it was a straight red they could.

I doubt it. It’s a shaky enough game anyway, you don’t want to be taking risks in defence with a player who’s been out for most of the season.
agreed. no offence but she’s, realistically, not going to come in and add some huge amount of security in that back line. it’s far more likely she’d just be a liability. (again, no offence, but she is coming back from injury here and barca will see this as an advantage for them).
Yeah exactly. I don’t see the point in rushing her either rn, because of that, and for her as a player too.

Buchanan was too late for the ball and already had a yellow card.

Otherwise it is raining in England, like it is in another country on the continent which is probably why Ms Hayes looks the way she does.
She got to the ball first, that’s not a yellow. VAR would have overruled it if they were allowed to review.

eye test only. i’d say she’s been one of their top 3 players in that first half. maybe top 2.
She’s definitely been one of their better players so far. First half i’d say top 2. Second half other Barca players are stepping up a little more but i’d still have her in the top 4/5, so far.

Someone else just said it best on the international thread: this is what happens with LJ. If she can’t get in the game early, she ghosts the team.

And it’s true. She either has a great game or she ghosts, there’s never any middle ground or in between there. And you never know what you’re getting either, you want the LJ that has a 10/10 but seems like more and more she’s having games like this where she’s actually just invisible and needs taking off.
