thoughts on how the english players got on today ?
keira + lj pretty much ghosted. i checked keira’s stats and they’re actually decent but still, didn’t even notice her throughout the game. lj was horrific though.

bronze was actually alright. usually don’t care much for her but i’ll give it to her that today she stepped up. 2nd best player in the first half and remained somewhat steady in the second half. not really any problems there.

bright had like 2 touches of the ball lol so you can’t really judge her. nice to see her back on the pitch though.

Third slide, is that hytnermarriott girl?

The girl next to Leah? Yes, it can be... if it's her then that girl isn't Jess's girlfriend, that photo is from several months ago and Jess was still dating that girl related to Arsenal.

i couldn’t watch most of the game… why does Emma Hayes keep saying they got robbed??
99.999999% of the time in football, when a team loses, someone on that team will claim they were robbed. either player(s) or the manager.

but to be fair here, there were definitely some iffy calls against chelsea tonight. and i know that if that was against my team, i’d be unhappy with it.

To be fair they did. I’m an Arsenal fan and very happy they got robbed. But it was never a red and it was a very very very soft penalty. Completely robbed but as long as they don’t win CL I don’t care. If it was Arsenal I’d be spewing.

Controversial calls on a second yellow and a penalty.

Re: English Football Ladies

Called it from the start that Chelsea were not winning the champions league. Personally I think Barca will win it now again. Let's see if Chelsea will win the WSL but I have feeling City are going to Win it....

Re: English Football Ladies

Bye Emma & Chelsea! 😂 Chelsea‘s only hope is the WSL title now and even this is not a walk in the park. I‘d say she will leave without a title this season.

Yes, Bright is ready.

btw why do the players lift the lower part of their shorts before they enter the pitch?

there’s no var?
There’s VAR but the second yellow wasn’t a play they can review. If it was a straight red they could.

Do we think Bright will get minutes today or no?
I doubt it. It’s a shaky enough game anyway, you don’t want to be taking risks in defence with a player who’s been out for most of the season.
agreed. no offence but she’s, realistically, not going to come in and add some huge amount of security in that back line. it’s far more likely she’d just be a liability. (again, no offence, but she is coming back from injury here and barca will see this as an advantage for them).
Yeah exactly. I don’t see the point in rushing her either rn, because of that, and for her as a player too.

Not a chelsea fan but they got screwed on that red card
Buchanan was too late for the ball and already had a yellow card.

Otherwise it is raining in England, like it is in another country on the continent which is probably why Ms Hayes looks the way she does.
She got to the ball first, that’s not a yellow. VAR would have overruled it if they were allowed to review.

Bronze's inclusion on the right has made a big difference
eye test only. i’d say she’s been one of their top 3 players in that first half. maybe top 2.
She’s definitely been one of their better players so far. First half i’d say top 2. Second half other Barca players are stepping up a little more but i’d still have her in the top 4/5, so far.
💯

WTF is going on with LJ?
She’s just completely ghosted. She looks like she can’t be bothered and doesn’t care
Someone else just said it best on the international thread: this is what happens with LJ. If she can’t get in the game early, she ghosts the team.

And it’s true. She either has a great game or she ghosts, there’s never any middle ground or in between there. And you never know what you’re getting either, you want the LJ that has a 10/10 but seems like more and more she’s having games like this where she’s actually just invisible and needs taking off.

literally stop with this shit. for fucks sake. if you need to, take it to grace’s thread. until the day sian, grace or josie become footballers, they’re not relevant in here. alls you’re doing is making it harder for genuine leah fans to be able to discuss her anymore. and you’re not even talking about leah ffs. do we mention everything everyone else’s friends does all the time???? no. because it’s irrelevant. jesus christ.

I know everyone seems dead set on the Bronze to NWSL thing happening this summer, but it’s games like this that make me think she’d be better off staying at Barca for another year. You can literally see how effective she’s been so far and the relationships she’s built on that right hand side. Ona isn’t there yet (makes sense considering she’s been on the left up until recently, but still).

If she stays at Barca she might be benched a little more, but then she’d be thrown right back in when they can’t just rely on Ona. With the amount of games they play I just think it’d be worth the shot of staying for another year.

Also going to the NWSL after the Euros just makes sense.
