Arsenal, City and United beat Chelsea but not Barca. Team WSL >>>
If Barca played in the WSL or just a more competitive league, they wouldn’t have the great winning record and scoring records that they have. That’s not even to say they’re a bad team, because they’re obviously not and they’d still be near the top of the table in other leagues. But they wouldn’t be winning week in and week out. They could have a performance like that in La Liga and still win, because other teams just aren’t on the level to capitalise on their poor performances.
oh yeah, spot on.
& what everyone fails to acknowledge here as well is the impact that actually has. like chelsea play genuinely competitive games a lot more frequently than barca do, and so they’re tested a lot more. barca arent and therefore lose their heads far more than anyone else when they’re still down so late into the game, they just don’t have enough experience being properly tested and it’s only going to be detrimental to them as more and more european teams start to become more competitive and step up their level. competition is very necessary in being number 1.
Exactly. Barcelona looked devoid of a plan B because they never have to use one.
Yeah the lack of competition to them (there is competition below them in the league) is only a negative to them at the end of the day.
Plus a league does not look at all attractive when it’s so dominated by a single team, which is why you don’t see top players going to La Liga unless it is to Barca, or maybe Real Madrid on the rare occasion. So that doesn’t help in trying to make the league more competitive either.
There just needs to be a lot more investment and time put into those other teams because I can’t imagine they’re enjoying it, and Barca will be aware that the lack of competition isn’t helping them either. Also surely winning just gets boring at that point, when you’re not even really challenged?? Like what’s the hype behind another league trophy win when you win it so easily every year?
