This is really strange.
I still remember how popular Dasha used to be in the old forum and even here until about 10 months ago. Everyone kept mentioning her, how cute she is and similar things. Everyone kept mentioning that she is definitely lesbian, looking at the photoes with L and nobody attacked her for her result despite the fact that her results were horrible compared to her 2023 season. She was one of those cute young athletes that lesbians liked to chat and gossip about.
Then, all of a sudden, last year, she officially came out and introduced Natalia. Yes, she sort of came out already in 2021 with that interview were she said yes when she was asked if she would date a girl, but that wasn't really direct. And after some people said it's great, suddenly, the more open they became, the more hate they started to get. And the stange part is: on any other platform, people started love her more. On Twitter, Reddit, IG, Tennis forum, everywhere people started to like her more than ever.
And yet, this side, people started to attack her more and more, being negative about everything and trying to spread hate for no reason. Even on page 1 of this thread, there are people who say negative things about Natalia's appearance, that she's not feminine enough and other stuff. But that was only the beginning.
First, Natalia was attacked for simply divorcing her husband and Dasha for leaving the eternally closeted girl, people called Natalia gold digger, all kinds of insults, they called Dasha creepy for going to a vacation at the same country where she used to with L.
Then, the next phase was the "Natalia has no personality, she is a wag", which was about Natalia filming a vlog about the Football WC final, because how dare she go if she wasn't a super fan of football, how dare she spend the evening with her gf in a city where she doesn't know anyone apart from Dasha.
The next thing was all the stupid comments about blaming Natalia for every single loss of Dasha. Because apparently, you can play tennis while being in a hetero relationship, like every other player, but for Dasha, her great love is "distraction". She is not focused on tennis, because her gf edits some videos before tournaments. Because all the commenting people know what Dasha needs very well.
Then, all of a sudden, people started to attack her for her words on the Russia and the handshake issue. Because apparently, she is just putting up a show, she could return to Russia anytime, she is lying and she just pretends to have those positions to be liked by the British media. And obviously, the only reason why Sabalenka is more successful is because she tell the Ukranian players to shake her hand, so that the crowd will boo them, not her.
And these are just the main attacking lines, there are also countless other less frequent. For example, she sold herself to the "Western qUeEr" things because after 1 year of open relationship without posting a single damn rainbow flag, she took a photo with the "Pride in Tennis" group and some colorfully dressed gay men and women. So that's it, thet picture is not different from being a blue haired, identity and pronoun obsessed person.
These are all pathetic and ridiculous attacks, but today was a new low. So apparently, they are just faking to be gay. This is the point when the so called L chat is saying the exact same thing that the 80 year old Russian conservative official, who said last year that they are just pretending to be gay to get Western citizenship. Disgusting. You, f-ing trolls who are spreading this toxic hate against the only high ranked openly lesbian tennis player are all disgusting and make me want to vomit! I am sick and tired of even coming here and read all the Dasha hate comments, which are now 80% of the opinions you will find here!!!
I think that troll knows well that Dasha never came out as bisexual, she just said "yes" when Tartakova asked if would date a girl. Last year, she used the word gay every single time and when that Russian guy commented that "no man wants to be with you after this" she literally said "Could comebody explain to him that the reason for the coming out is that I DON'T NEED MEN!"... And Natalia, who also explained many times that she wanted to be with women and she basically married that guy because she hoped that will help her forgetting about wanting women.
But who cares about details, right??? This is just a new method to spread hate against them.
There is young, brave Russian lesbian athlete, who came from a small, poor town, her parents had sell everything to fund her career, she struggled with anxiety in 2019 after living with that pressure, she finally got a loving girlfriend who is even willing to go after online troll to protect her, came out and lives an open life which normalising lesbian relationships in the tennis world and in Russia on a level that we haven't even realised, and after all of this, the so called L chat is nothing but a "what is out problem with Dasha this week" anti-thread.
Honestly, anyone who is really a lesbian here and thinks she deserves this treatment simply doesn't deserve any rights. And any male homophobic troll who comes here to hate on them and to "expose them" is not a real man.
I have no problem with free discussion, I don't support any tough censorship, but I have one strict rule: don't sabotage dicussing the topic that the original post started! If it says that Daria Kasatkina is and out tennis player and she has a girlfriend, and a happy picture of them, don't turn it into an anti-Kasatkina forum. I wanted to write all of these because I'm done with this place. I realised that reading all the BS about her here just makes me more stressed, so I now have to find an other place to support her and discuss their vlog without reading all the toxic attacks on them.
To the normal anons: goodbye! To the trolls: F U.
You just said everything that I want to say! Thx! I just ignore trolls and hate speech.
to OP:
I read this thread occasionally, I like Dasha (and Natasha), but I am not a super fan, so I follow sporadically.
It's really sad that trolls, homophobes, insecure anons, find their way to threads like this, and many others, to unleash their cowardly attacks and, to be frank, reveal their ignorance as well.
Unfortunately this is the state we live in, but I wanted to just say: don't give up, don't let them get to you. Know that there are many like you, that will appreciate and support you.
There are many of us that like and appreciate Dasha and what she represents. And also appreciate her tennis.
It's not easy to ignore, and if this thread is making you feel uneasy, you should definitely look after yourself first, but if you still have some energy left to hang around, know that your post has been seen and it proves there are good people around. The thing is, trolls and the like shouts louder, are obvious, because that's the only way the can get others' attention. They are often insecure. You are not. Keep being outspoken and respectful as you are.
