Okay so what is the deal with Cortnee and Charlotte? They are absolutely adorable and I'm so surprised they're not engaged/married by now?!
They just celebrated their 5 year anniversary! They refer to each other as wife all the time so they’re pretty much already there honestly
Next in line to get engaged
Yep I think so! Either those two or Raso/Izzy are my guesses

Adorable. Daniëlle is so far gone haha. I can’t wait for the summer!
She has looked at her like that since day one, still does. Ellie looks at her that way too. They are very underrated as a pair, in part because they don’t share a ton, but when they do share it’s always really cute. I mean, Ellie’s birthday post for Danielle last year was 🔥
Still can’t believe Ellie is the one who shared that photo.
She’s also the one who proposed first as far as we know. So the whole “Daan is more into Ellie” narrative some like to use is dead on its feet. They’re just private. Daan shares a bit more, but for the most part their relationship is not for public consumption and I respect them for doing what works for them and protecting their peace
They stopped sharing stuff because they were absolutely slammed by haters who believed they cheated to get together. I think Daan was burned by the Beth Mead break up with her fans so wanted to avoid that in her next relationship.
What that subsection of Arsenal fans (not all Arsenal fans to be clear, a section of them) did to them was horrifying. The daily creation of Twitter accounts to threaten and insult them, the endless Instagram comments, all of that. Daan had to address it in an interview and the pain on her face was just so sad

I have always loved how in that first trophy picture Ellie’s eyes are closed and she’s kissing the trophy so she doesn’t notice in the moment, but Danielle is looking at her, not the trophy. And with so much care. It’s so cute

Do Macca and Kirsty live together? Did they live together before they started dating?
They definitely do now but didn’t before they were dating
What is the Macca/Kirsty history? Did they only start dating when they both played for West Ham?

Daan moved to Lyon in June 2021 and they were first spotted out together on Valentine’s Day in 2022. They had been flirty in Instagram comments since November 2021 though so I’d bet they first got together around then. Their UWCL win posts in May 2022 were their “launch” or whatever it’s called now and pictures from the team trip that followed further confirmed. For anyone *still* not sure by that point, Ellie appeared in Danielle’s Euros documentary as her ‘partner and teammate.’

They are so genuinely adorable and to me the cutest couple in woso. I love how they’re much more private too, their relationship is so precious to them but they do share the milestones with the fans

Yes, they have pretty much always warmed up together, with a few exceptions. Under the spoiler tag is a picture from Caitlin's second match at Arsenal and there warm up together
When posting Twitter links, please replace the x.com with Twitter.com so it shows the preview here. Most people don’t click on external links so reposting for ease.
Wow seeing that photo of them warming up from 2020, I would have totally assumed they were in love then. Major heart eyes. But I also know they’ve been/were in happy long term relationships with other people so that definitely wasn’t the case. Think it’s a good reminder that photos don’t show the full story. If anything though it’s clear they’ve always gotten on well and had a laugh.
Page catching and I know Caitlin and Lia started dating in 2020 but surely they weren't already dating by Caitlin's second game? I mean maybe they were but if so, man girlie worked fast.
Nah, they started dating during Covid lockdown after Cait moved in with Lia. Cait and Katie have just always had insane chemistry. Kinda to some degree, on reflection, they feel like they were always going to end up together. Right person and just had to wait for the right time, which is now and they're so fucking happy together.
Right, that's what I thought, that they only started dating after they began living together. I thought they were really cute together but yeah, can't deny Caitlin and Katie seemed to get on really well from the start either. Glad to see them so happy and in love now.

Arsenal's new left winger, Steph Catley.

Thought they could just sneak Katie Zelem into the team and no one would notice, I've seen 10 year olds play better then her.

What city would you like the Matildas to play in that they haven't played in before?

Caveat to make things interesting: cannot be a player's hometown; doesn't have to have an actual stadium since this is a hypothetical
Darwin. Or Hobart. Or maybe in Alice Springs 🤣

Well Kat (EVE fiance) just shared a story from Krinklewood Estate which is a wedding venue in NSW!! So maybe she’s there looking in person at the site - interesting!! We know they were looking at getting married in Aus.
Is that part of the Hunter Valley because I'm sure they already confirmed it would be there either earlier this year or late last year?
Yep it’s in the Hunter Valley but they never confirmed the actual venue of course. It’s freaking nice.
Oh, maybe they are getting married after the Sydney China game so all the girls can attend, and she's there now to do final venue check.
Omg that kinda does make sense?! Maybe before the games as Arsenal girls are technically coming out for May 24th and the season will have finished in England. But then you’d still have Ellie playing on CL final but idk if Ellie and EVE are close, I’m pretty sure they are?
Could be before as like someone said there are NWSL games straight after the China friendlies. Tbh the only people from Matilda’s I’m expecting to see are Sam/Cait/Steph. And they could all be here and available for that period given Sam is just doing rehab and Cait/Steph will be here for the Arsenal friendly. Can see Ellie, Raso, Lani, Macca, maybe Mini/Meeks but idk if that’s hard to get everyone in the same place at same time.

But my gut is telling me she’s just flown over to see some suppliers in person/tour the venue finally and they’ll do it later in the year.

Yes, they are close. The wedding does not make sense at that time though because Emily plays in the NWSL. She’s not heading into her offseason like the WSL girls (and Ellie and Clare in D1) will be. She’ll be in the middle of her season and will have games in between the China games and Olympic prep camp

Extremely unlikely. Emily is in season with San Diego. They have games on June 7 and 14.

They’re getting married this year too aren’t they? I remember she did a post saying she’s a 2024 bride. Would be crazy if they’re getting married this year and don’t already have their venue but never know

Okay wow lol I was the one who made the comment about some of the older girls becoming parents possibly and how it will be so interesting/strange to see them with a baby. It wasn’t meant to be offensive at all.
  • I said older as it’s a fact more women are waiting until their 30s to have kids - literally read the recent ABS data on this topic. Doesn’t mean having kids in your 20s is wrong whatsoever, just that it no longer is the average age like it used to be. It is more likely that Sam/Kristie will have kids before Mary Fowler because of their age and stage in their career
  • Being a female professional athlete does mean there are certain additional considerations for when getting pregnant/having a baby than us normal folk. The vast majority of football players would not be essentially pausing their career at their peak to have a kid. Professional athletes do best perform in their 20s there is no secret about that. Now modern medical advancements have allowed women to have kids later in life, so fertility isn’t always the top concern. Yes we’ve seen some football players have kids and returned to sport which is fantastic, but the fact is it’s a very demanding lifestyle and isn’t an option for most purely based on schedule and physical demands from their job
  • And yes I did also mean the core Matilda’s team we have grown up with when referencing “older players”. I have been watching these girls for over a decade. Of course that would be a bigger change than Amy Sayer having a kid for example. It’s not a personal attack at your fav based on their age
Your post was clear, thanks for providing added context but seriously the weird reaction by someone was not necessary. Just having a tantrum because they want the convo to be all about someone who is ”young”.
Oh my god?!!! You are the only one who brought up that player. Read back the conversation. Only one person was having a tantrum, only one person brought her up, and that one person? It was you lmfao embarrassing as hell
There is just no other reason why someone would jump on the topic of old vs. young unless their fav was young or they themselves are a young mum and feel bullied by it. And there have been similar arguments in here before about Ellie not having kids anytime soon because of her age and stage in career and someone has gone off because they want to talk about Ellie having kids. Anyway let’s just move on. Focus on those who are likely to have kids as they retire as that was the point?
To be fair, I’m an Ellie fan, but it’s highly unlikely she’s getting pregnant anytime soon anyway so idk why it is an issue for some. Maybe Daan will get pregnant after the Euros when she retires, but that is still 1-2 years away at least. And Ellie is not pausing her career at what is arguably her peak performance period, especially when she had time off last year from her ACL injury and knows the challenges of getting back to form in a short period of time. Most likely to start having kids in the next few years to me is Sam/Kristie, EVE/Kat, Steph/Dean. Mini is already having kids so that isn’t “new”.
Agree with the bolded part. That being said, I don't know if I can see Sam or EVE getting pregnant so physically they should be fine to play longer if they want to. Could totally be wrong though, obviously.

Cute. Did they always warm up together? I know they have for the last year or so, but did Caitlin warm up with someone before they started dating? Never paid attention!

You are trying to blame others for blowing up a conversation when you are doing it yourself. Nothing is clear and no one knows who you are referring to when you say "the players". That implies all of them, not just your faves. Have some self awareness. Da
Those two are clearly not being talked about in this conversation because they're already mums! You can't possibly be this slow. Under a post about Alanna most real Tillies fans can assume what generation and group are being referred to.
And that doesn't mean you should just jump down peoples' throats or start putting words in peoples' mouths ranting about maybe they don't want to be mums, why does it matter since so and so is a mum, or crying because someone left out younger players from the conversation?
Some of you in this thread are so miserable you can't allow people to express a benign thought without twisting it.
Lol but it's okay for you to jump down people's throats and put words in people's mouths for pointing out your exclusion of certain players. Rules for thee and not for me, aye?
If you lot didn't come in hot for over an innocuous post I wouldn't have given you the same energy back. See how that works?
And so what is some players were excluded from the conversation? That's not the conversation OP wanted to have. You could have brought up younger players having kids in a much better way but chose to be a bitch instead. Sit with that.
da. yet you're the only one resorting to name calling and dragging the discussion on and being a "bitch" about it.
Acting like a bitch over nothing is fine but being called one isn't? Ok darls.

Da. I brought up Ellie not the anon you're once again jumping like some feral animal. Only Ellie has hardcore fangirls here who would take personal offence and rant about a young player not being included in the baby conversation.

I'm sorry a couple of sensitives jumped you because you dared not include everyone under the sun in your comment. I knew who and what you meant. Us long time followers get it. It will be weird seeing certain players move onto the next phase as they enter their early 30s after being so used to them just being young and fully focused on football for all this time. It's also a bit sad because it is a sign of an inevitable changing of the guard and change is an uncomfortable process sometimes.
