‘Humbled and honored’: Super Bowl to honor 50 years of female flyers
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2023/ ... plnews_d-1
For the first time, an all-female team will be at the controls this year for the traditional military flyover before the Super Bowl, the apex of the football year.
The trailblazing moment at the sport showcase event will commemorate 50 years of female US navy aviators.
Couple of F/A 18’s and a F-35C’s(!!). The F-35 is an amazingly sexy jet. The integration between jet and pilot (suit/helmet) is like something out of a sci-fi movie - and thats just the parts that have been unclassified.
I hope more women choose to fly these fighters, in part because the world could use more women aviators and in-part so I can live through them what my anger at being told women could not fly combat (before 91/92) prevented me from pursuing and then my defective eyesight (before correction was widely available) would limit me to Navigation only. The F-15 & F-22 were my dream jets, the F-35 surpasses it in every way. Try to catch the flyover it’ll be the best and only part of the super bowl for me.
If any of you have plans to fly, NEVER get an ADHD diagnoses - the military may clear you because they are desperate for pilots and the FAA has no control over them, but you will never clear medical to be able to fly as a civilian, not even for a private license. This goes for just about every country. You can have major depression and other mental health issues and there is still a path to fly, even commercially - but not w/ADHD.
