How can Carpenter and van de Donk be engaged?
Van de Donk just split up with Miedema (who is with Beth Mead) and now is engaged to Carpenter as they both play in France?

Yeah, how so?

Ew what is that skirt
The skirt looks like someone accidentally peed themselves and were super dehydrated.

Why do they dress them like they are 45+. So annoying when comparing our fits to Canada and even USA. Zero cool factor. I hope for the Matilda’s sake they don’t have to do any cringey photoshoots in the outfits….
There's absolutely no cringe whatsoever about representing your country at an Olympic Games. Australian colours...it should be and will be worn with pride.
Isn't that the Preppy style from Pommie island? At least they are wearing Dunlop Volleys. The plaided skirts seem to be en vogue again with a kind of semi batik style skirt in Aussie colours.

Okay wow lol I was the one who made the comment about some of the older girls becoming parents possibly and how it will be so interesting/strange to see them with a baby. It wasn’t meant to be offensive at all.
  • I said older as it’s a fact more women are waiting until their 30s to have kids - literally read the recent ABS data on this topic. Doesn’t mean having kids in your 20s is wrong whatsoever, just that it no longer is the average age like it used to be. It is more likely that Sam/Kristie will have kids before Mary Fowler because of their age and stage in their career
  • Being a female professional athlete does mean there are certain additional considerations for when getting pregnant/having a baby than us normal folk. The vast majority of football players would not be essentially pausing their career at their peak to have a kid. Professional athletes do best perform in their 20s there is no secret about that. Now modern medical advancements have allowed women to have kids later in life, so fertility isn’t always the top concern. Yes we’ve seen some football players have kids and returned to sport which is fantastic, but the fact is it’s a very demanding lifestyle and isn’t an option for most purely based on schedule and physical demands from their job
  • And yes I did also mean the core Matilda’s team we have grown up with when referencing “older players”. I have been watching these girls for over a decade. Of course that would be a bigger change than Amy Sayer having a kid for example. It’s not a personal attack at your fav based on their age
Your post was clear, thanks for providing added context but seriously the weird reaction by someone was not necessary. Just having a tantrum because they want the convo to be all about someone who is ”young”.
Oh my god?!!! You are the only one who brought up that player. Read back the conversation. Only one person was having a tantrum, only one person brought her up, and that one person? It was you lmfao embarrassing as hell
There is just no other reason why someone would jump on the topic of old vs. young unless their fav was young or they themselves are a young mum and feel bullied by it. And there have been similar arguments in here before about Ellie not having kids anytime soon because of her age and stage in career and someone has gone off because they want to talk about Ellie having kids. Anyway let’s just move on. Focus on those who are likely to have kids as they retire as that was the point?
To be fair, I’m an Ellie fan, but it’s highly unlikely she’s getting pregnant anytime soon anyway so idk why it is an issue for some. Maybe Daan will get pregnant after the Euros when she retires, but that is still 1-2 years away at least. And Ellie is not pausing her career at what is arguably her peak performance period, especially when she had time off last year from her ACL injury and knows the challenges of getting back to form in a short period of time. Most likely to start having kids in the next few years to me is Sam/Kristie, EVE/Kat, Steph/Dean. Mini is already having kids so that isn’t “new”.
With respect, but how on earth will they get pregnant? Is the stork coming? Last time I checked.... :spy: Two soils together?

I feel like we go through waves of the girls being active and inactive, and it everyone always seems to sync up, haha. I did expect a bit more last week (national couples day last Fri was the exception) when everyone arrived back from camp, but I guess this week is all focus on the return of the WSL this weekend if we're talking the English league girls.
I’m betting some dumps will happen on Monday/Tuesday. After the games for majority.
I hope so, but who do we see them coming from? And are they going to be game related, or personal?
Tbh I don’t classify the game ones as photo dumps. To me photo dumps are like 5+ random pics not from the same day. I’m mostly interested in seeing Caitlin’s photo dump as it feels like it’s been awhile (excluding the Ireland one). I also really enjoy seeing Lani and Maccas. Sam doesn’t post too much personal stuff atm but I think she would have some good ones.
I most def agree, I just wanted to clarify, haha. I think we're more likely to get a Macca photo dump than a Cait one. Between her Ireland and US dumps, she's posted personally twice in the last month. I'd be shocked if she wants a random dump, as much as I would love one. Katie's dump last week being 40% Cait probably ties us over for a few weeks until either post again. I feel like Macca is def due for a dump tho and to share a selfie or two with Kirsty.
Yeah, I think Katie has been spoiling us with Cait content lately. All her snaps as well as the dump, so maybe Cait won't post anything personal for a while.

Macca posted a dump with selfies with Kirsty in right before she left for camp, so it’s not been that long actually!

Feel like it’s been a bit quiet since camp got back - saw someone posted in the international thread that they expected more photo dumps from March and I agree! I guess we did get several photo dumps from camp, but curious to see what they got up to at home last month. I expected maybe some pics too from Maccas bday but I think too much time has passed now!

Ellie’s birthday is next week, so though they can’t go on a birthday trip like they normally have due to UWCL there still should be posts from Daan/her friends and teammates. Probably not anything from Ellie herself unless they have some time off after the UWCL semi and the two of them go somewhere - after that semi game they don’t play again until May 8
I’d be very surprised if they don’t do something with the few days off they’ll have after the semi. They may not post about it but they probably still do something. It’s the last limited window of time off they’d have between D1 playoffs and the UWCL final if they get there. Then it’s China camp for Ellie/Euro qualifiers for Daan before (hopefully) a break for everyone before Olympic camp

This convo is fine to have, you don’t need to use spoiler warnings. Nice to see the girlfriends following the insta page. I don’t think I’ve ever seen them like posts about their gfs, just Twitter posts.
Do you not follow Danielle on Instagram then? She’s all over Matildas posts all the time. Squad announcements, wins, stadium sellouts, and Ellie specific posts.
Not in the most recent international break but usually Kirsty is pretty active liking the tillies posts about Macca too. Daan always does.
My bad, I thought I was following Daan but just realised I wasn’t! Now I see all the likes hahaha cute!
Katie, Daan, Kirsty, Clara all following the Tillies. It seems it’s just Kristie who doesn’t. Love supportive girlfriends/fiancee’s of our girls.

Quick question - why do people seem so sure that Yallop is a guaranteed selection for the 18? To me she doesn’t seem like a player who can offer much to the team, I would be really worried if we needed to call upon her in the Olympics to play even a small role. People say because she can play loads of positions but don’t we have enough players within those positions to not need a jack of all trades master of none type?
Very easy - versatility and experience. She’s a no brainer for those two reasons alone. It cannot be understated how tough the Olympic schedule is. Rotation is key and can be the difference between winning and losing games because they’re so condensed. Meeks is a roster lock no question at all.
Yep, agree with this. And she's so reliable. She's such a sturdy sub, and you know she's going to put in the work and effort when she comes onto the pitch. You know what you're going to get from her.

She's in the 18, every day of the week.
