Do any of the tillies have dyslexia? Some of them seem noticeably uncomfortable when theyā€™ve to read on camera but donā€™t think Iā€™ve ever heard any of them talk about it unlike some players from overseas

Is it just me or is Caitlin getting thinner and thinner? Sheā€™d noticeably lost quite a lot of weight before the WC but seems to have lost even more since then

Omg hahaha the fact she didnā€™t deny
But she's the most boring one on social media šŸ¤£
"I keep to myself, so I'd like to keep it that way" . She is soooooo not as innocent away from a camera!

Also, the Tillies deleting comments about Katie on their IG? I swear when I looked before a couple people had mentioned Alanna "confirming" Cait & Katie, but they're not there now??
I hope so! People need to remember this is Caitlinā€™s workplace essentially. But I saw one comment and looked at the profile and it was a 12 year old lol. So I think those that do comment that type of stuff are normally not mature adults anyway.
Yeah there is a random account who keeps posting saying ā€œthanks Lani for confirming Caitlin and Katieā€ and tagging them all, so cringe. Their comment gets deleted and then they repost a new comment.
At this point the most frustrating part for everyone must be the fact that people are still awaiting some kind of ā€œconfirmationā€ even though theyā€™ve made it clear as day. A lot of people just want to there to be constant drama around them rather than letting them be boringly happy as they seem to be.

Popping in to the Aus thread for the first time ever and canā€™t believe the absolute FANFICTION that this convo is. Is this the crazy Ellie stan from the normal thread or is there more than one of you?????
Discussion about someone learning an actual language: fan fiction, stan behavior.

Massive speculation about a playerā€™s sex life and photo album: all cool bro, carry on as is.

Talk about picking what suits your narrative!
Literally! Discussing how cool it is that Ellie has learned a language because her partner speaks it is fan fiction simply because itā€™s Ellie doing it but speculation on sex lives and photo albums based on nothing at all is fine because itā€™s players who are not Ellie? Itā€™s so fucking stupid and makes no sense. If it were Caitlin learning Irish there would be 47 pages about it no problem. The double standard is infuriating
Areed. But why would Caitlin Foord want to learn Irish? She already speaks English?!
Gaelic is spoken in Ireland but I have no idea if Katie McCabe speaks it (nor do I want to knowā€¦)

Point is, linguistics is cool, learning languages is cool, people should totally try and pick a new language. Itā€™s fun! :)

Some tips re learning languages: watch a show in the new language but have English subtitles on. Youā€™ll hear the cadence more and will pick things up more easily.

And that concludes the language tips for the week.
Why on earth has this become a debate between Ellie/Daan and Caitlin?! No one once tried to start a fight saying Caitlin/Katie were better so itā€™s likely not even a Caitlin or Katie fan. Someone made a dig at Ellie/Daan fans and all of a sudden youā€™ve dropped Caitlin into the mix with no mention?! Absolutely fucked up. Stop fighting with a troll and dropping our fellow Matildaā€™s into the mix. So sick of you guys just fighting over couples and throwing fans in it too when you should learn to ignore an obvious troll.

Page catching and this is so touching. Ellie truly had no obligation to learn Dutch. Daan speaks English just fine. She *chose* to learn for no other reason than simply because the person she loves speaks it. Not because itā€™s required for her job, not because Daan has a hard time with English (she doesnā€™t!), simply because Ellie loves her and cares about her and wanted to be able to speak her language. From early on too, she was learning in 2022 when they were newly together. That is the kind of love so many only dream about having

Agreed on what? This is a stupid question. Ellieā€™s learning Dutch when Danielle already speaks English. She didnā€™t have to, Daan is fluent in English. Ellie is learning Dutch simply because she loves her. Caitlin could do the same if she wanted to. Whatā€™s your question or what youā€™re agreeing with? That thereā€™s a double standard? Because there is. The language discussion is only being called fanfic because itā€™s about Ellie and some people here canā€™t stand her being praised or talked about positively. If it were about anyone else no one would be saying itā€™s fanfic.

Two things:
1. The "OL accent" is actually across the OL team or at the very least players who have been there +2 seasons. I think it's partly because OL imposes mandatory French lessons for their international players (for good cause - learn the local language!), and because of that the accent naturally becomes more diluted. Even subconsciously your brain starts to pick up the cadence of the second language and because of that, the intonation of your primary language begins to change. Your brain is literally adapting to its environment. #LinguisticsIsMyPassion

2. Daan and Ellie get a lot of hate (see the recent anon comments) but I think it really gets overlooked how much a relationship must mean to someone if they are willing to learn a completely different foreign language ... just because the person you like speaks it. Usually language is separated into categories: A is your primary language, B is your second language, C is your third, etc. For Ellie, obviously English is her first, so A language. French would - arguably - be her second, and that's just because she's been at OL longer than she has known Daan. The team also speaks French, she's living in France, all of that good stuff. But she deliberately chose to pick up a C language simply because Daan speaks it. There was no other reason for her to learn Dutch.

Like, Dutch isn't an easy language to learn. It's really not. But Ellie still learnt it, by choice, because Daan is Dutch, and so she knows that learning Dutch would mean a lot to Daan. Like if you think about it Ellie didn't have to learn Dutch because Daan already speaks English. But she still made a point to learn Dutch, and now is good enough in it that she can at the very least respond to written comments in it.

Everyone has their own way of showing they care. But learning a whole language for someone just because you speak it? That's easily the most romantic shit someone can do for you, hands down.

Miedema's Scottish accent will never not be funny to me (I think she didn't speak great english when she met her ex and that is why her accent is so strong now).

I have noticed Ellie's accent has softened quite a bit these last couple of years. She used to sound (and I mean no disrespect) like an absolute bogan. I suppose spending your days with people form whom english is not their first language you would naturally learn to speak in a more "neutral" accent.

By the way, that is another tell tale indicator at least, not to say sign, that people "spend much time together or have had meaningful (to them) conversations over a period of time, when their accents become similar. Another example of this would be (since Danielle van de Donk was just mentioned) Miedema who just sounded like Scottish Lisa Evans after all those years. But hey, who in Europe says marsupial everyday since they are only to be found in zoos up here).

YES!! I saw that too. That and deliberately tapping the screen so her camera roll wouldn't show. Plus someone would have had to have taken the photo as it's from over her left shoulder. Caity with the rizz.
Omg I didnā€™t notice that but youā€™re so right hahahahah fk this makes it even funnier. Could not work out how sheā€™d taken that pic herself..

Daan is also a lot more confident when she speaks English now. I remember their DAZN interview in 2022 she was struggling to say some words (marsupial was one lol) and instead of pressuring her Ellie patiently waited while she sounded it out and repeated the word back to her. Youā€™d naturally pick up tendencies that way. Daan def has an Aussie twang now lol itā€™s cute. Ellieā€™s has evolved too and when you consider that sheā€™s learning Dutch as well as French it makes sense that it is kind of melting together a bit. How dedicated she has been to learning that language has been so sweet. Itā€™s a tough one to learn but she jumped right in

Who could be the top in the Danielle van de Donk-Ellie Carpenter liaison?
Danielle seems caring and affectionate but she is also older and more experienced.

probably :hudoin: also noticeable that alanna didnt show either of hers, only to Mac and Cait. To be honest I don't think there would be anything scandalous or private in their camera rolls as you can have separate private photo albums cant you on iPhones nowadays?

It is always the quiet ones isn't it? meanwhile Macca just has about 15 photos of Kirsty on her camera roll you can see at the bottom of her Chinese chicken photo :) funny how Macca is the wholesome one out of the two of them!
And Caitlin made sure to tap the screen before she showed the pic of her and peach so that the camera roll photos werenā€™t showing šŸ˜šŸ˜‚
Iā€™m honestly also questioning if maccas picked a different photo and cait showed the one of her and peach insteadā€¦ just based on the looks her and macca gave eachother before she showed it

So interesting to me how her accent has evolved over the last few years. Ellieā€™s has too. Both are much softer versions of what they were before. Like you can tell Daan is Dutch but itā€™s not so intense, the same way you can tell Ellieā€™s Australian but itā€™s not as heavy now. Itā€™s likely a combo of softening it so they are easier to understand since many of their teammates are French/predominantly speak French, learning French themselves, and living with each other so adopting some of each others tendencies
Itā€™s a tough one to learn but she jumped right in
By the way, that is another tell tale indicator at least, not to say sign, that people "spend much time together or have had meaningful (to them) conversations over a period of time, when their accents become similar. Another example of this would be (since Danielle van de Donk was just mentioned) Miedema who just sounded like Scottish Lisa Evans after all those years. But hey, who in Europe says marsupial everyday since they are only to be found in zoos up here).

Two things:

Also, the Tillies deleting comments about Katie on their IG? I swear when I looked before a couple people had mentioned Alanna "confirming" Cait & Katie, but they're not there now??
Yes they are deleting them, as they should. Fans are taking things way, way too far. Being invasive is comfortable for fans now when it shouldnā€™t be. There is no need to comment about thinking Alanna did something to confirm a relationship. Imagine how uncomfortable that would be for her???? Come on.
Wasn't asking it as a negative thing. Love that they have and are deleting them. Whether Cait sent a text and asked them to, or they've done it off their own back, there's no need for the comments to be there. We all know Caitlin & Katie are together, and they're not the focus of the video. It was one little passing comment from Lans. The one comment that is up, originally had everyone tagged in it and they've re-said it without the tags.. from memory the other comment I saw also had Lani tagged.
There was an account, no idea if itā€™s the same one, who commented on the Tillies post congratulating Ellie and Daan on their engagement thanking Lani for pointing out Ellieā€™s engagement ring ahead of time. Those comments were deleted too. So either itā€™s an Alanna fan (or fans plural if not the same account in both instances) who thinks theyā€™re doing something by giving her props and not realizing theyā€™re being invasive, or itā€™s an overly invasive fan who has forgotten that these are real people and thinks this behavior is fine when it is not

I wonder why Sam has never done any of these fun interviews in recent years. Hers are always so serious. She definitely got more buttoned up in public facing duties
Personal choice is most likely. Steph does all kinds of fun content and sheā€™s the captain. Ellie and EVE do fun things too. Itā€™s not that Sam got ā€œbuttoned upā€ itā€™s way more likely that the fun stuff just isnā€™t her vibe. Not everyone wants to see 500 clips of themselves online from fans from one interview lol and I would put Sam in that category
Sheā€™s probably just busier at every camp to film content. She always gets involved in funny videos from Chelsea and back when she played in the NWSL. Just not as many for the Tillies but sheā€™s captain sooooo probably at press conferences and media duties etc.
Media duties rotate. Itā€™s never just Sam who does it. Her not participating in the fun stuff is personal choice. And sheā€™s allowed to make that choice. Look at what has happened with this short interview between Mac/Lani/Caitlin. There are clips of it everywhere now. You canā€™t blame Sam for not wanting that. Her ā€œdo youse not work on itā€ clip from Kristieā€™s documentary was everywhere instantly. Sheā€™s probably just not the type who likes that part of being a public figure so she just doesnā€™t do it when she can opt out. She is no busier with media than anyone else
Yeah I think people forget Sam has said sheā€™d shy around strangers or in new environments. Being fun for the cameras is probably not her vibe. We know sheā€™s goofy in the lockers based on what many of the girls have said, her public persona has just been more serious as sheā€™s taken on more responsibility and matured.

Would it actually kill you to go 5 minutes without telling people what to do?
It's FINE. Stop policing this thread like you own it! Every other convo on this thread is people trying to control what others post. It's annoying as hell. More annoying than any of the actual convos taking place before people like you butt in.
And no one is being "spoiled" ffs, it's a silly interview and the main link to the full video was posted before any of the clips anyway.
