Chelsea is nothing without Sam
Chelsea have had poor signings and injuries all season. It was already on a down trajectory after that disaster 4-1 loss to Arsenal. It was selfish of Hayes to be a foot out the door in the winter tbh. I’ve said the same about Tony—if the team knows their coach is actively seeking other opportunities, don’t be shocked their confidence goes down.

Just want to say how refreshing this thread is compared to all the English player threads😂 Love my chill Aussies you guys keep me sane, and the news about Amy… if only I could donate my ACL (if it’s true ofc).
That is nice, we always get blamed for any drama in the international thread - even when we're asleep! :)
That’s because Kerr Stan must live in England or America and makes us all look bad
Fucking hellllllllll poor Amy our whole squad is going down now

For me, Amy’s ACL doesn’t change the 18. It changes the alternates. I’d be far more concerned if it got closer to July and we still hadn’t had word on Mini or Clare Hunt fitness and recoveries.

My current Olympic squad would be.

GK - Macca, Teagan
DF - Ellie, Steph, Alanna, Clare H, Charli, Luik
MF - Mini, Kyra, Wheels, Meeks, EVE, Torps
FW - Caitlin, Ras, Mary, Heyman

Alt - Whyman (GK), Polks (DF), Vine (FW), Gielnik (FW).
I think for my own well-being I’m assuming Mini is out. It’s a lot to ask of her to get tournament fit coming off of an injury like that. She’ll be cutting it very close. Clare is a stress fracture in her foot or something isn’t it? Those can be tricky too but she should be back. Gielnik has been in amazing form and makes my 18. Especially because Tony is known to prefer to play Mary in the midfield. Also, Torpey is a defender. She can play on the wings when needed but will be listed as a defender on the squad list.

My 18:

GK - Mac, Teagan
DF - Ellie, Steph, Alanna, Clare, Torpey, Charli
MF - Mary, Kyra, Wheels, Meeks, EVE
FW - Heyman, Raso, Caitlin, Gielnik, Vine

Heyman is still the 9 and going be included in 18 people sqaud right? so heyman, fowler and foord as forwards. with maybe harding or glenik as backups.
Yes Heyman is going to be included. Harding is uncapped. If he opts to add a forward it probably would not be her. It would most likely be Gielnik and not as a backup either, since Tony prefers Fowler in the midfield

Nah.... this thread is way more chill and relaxed than any other threadS. The sun makes people happy hence Aussies are fully charged with vitamin D. No bitter and nasty people here.

HATE IT. What do we do for Paris now? Put Fowler up there? Bring in Harding? Do both? Ugh
One of Harding, Logarzo or Gielnik might well end up in the 18 now
Mm, I don't see it. Personally I would have had Sayer and Wheeler being a toss up as to who would be included in the 18 with the other being an alternate. And I was leaning towards Wheels being the inclusion. I do think it may crack the door open for Chloe or Emily though. Best guess is it'll still be an alternate spot that opens up. But then again, guess it depends on how Mini progresses too and what her fitness is like come end of June.
I think Wheeler will definitely be in. We do not have that many good DMs. Remy Siemsen hardly starts for Leicester City so will Tony even consider her as a forward.?

Definitely Gielnik IN if she’s recovered! Has had a fantastic season with her scoring boots on. I think we have some options, even Kyah is fully fit now if we get desperate. Also has it been 100% confirmed ACL? Won’t believe it unless it’s confirmed….
Just heard from someone in her camp that it is, but it hasn't been confirmed anywhere! So always chance someone has misunderstood. Will wait to see if Matildas post, maybe tomorrow morning.

Bloody hell. Harding couldn't even make the second call-up, Logarzo cannot stay injury free, and how is Gielnik these days? I thought she was close to retirement lol but maybe not. I think they'll push Fowler up and also consider having Foord up there as a second 9, but her shot accuracy has been pretty poor for club recently ahhhhh!
Outside of her calf injury that saw her withdraw from the Mexico game camp, Gielnik has been in pretty stellar form this season when she has been healthy. She deserves a shot to be honest. Why would she be close to retirement? She’s 31. Has struggled with injuries, sure. But it’s not like she’s super old lol she’s the same age as Mini and younger than Meeks.
For some reason I thought Gielnik was 34 at least. 31 isn't bad at all.

Out of those three based on current scenarios I’m taking Gielnik. I don’t think Chloe is back from her hip injury yet is she? Em has returned from her calf thing. But all three probably need to go somewhere in the lead up to the Olympics if they’re in the conversation since the dub season is over.
x2 on Gielnik. I like Harding but it's not worth risking an uncapped player for the Olympics. Even Michelle will be a test given she's barely played international minutes. Has Chloe returned from her injury yet?

That's so funny about getting stuck in a lift with them. It must feel strange for them now to suspect/sense that people would immediately recognise them now as they're just going about their day. I once saw them on a team walk long before the World Cup and there were only a few people who recognised them. Another time, I also saw Macca and Lani chilling at the beach and there was only one other person who recognised them.
Anon was it deathly silent in the lift?! I would die of awkwardness
Nah Caitlin was on the phone talking, so it kinda filled the silence haha. Probably only 15-20 seconds in there with them too.

it 100% is, that person was just trying to imply the anon was lying about the elevator thing. But also it's not even like the anon hyped it up or said she even interacted with the players so why would she lie.

If Teagan can stay healthy long term I think she can take the #1, think she’s better than Laws overall, is obviously younger and has a higher ceiling, but she struggled to stay consistently healthy. I know anytime she gets a concussion now will be a big concern, she’s frankly lucky the one she had at rosengard wasn’t a career ender for her.

How long are you in Melbourne for?

You can stay in the Docklands area since that's where Marvel Stadium is, and I suspect there's a lot of AirBnB choices there. But CBD and Southbank are also good areas too, should just be an easy tram to Marvel stadium.

There's a pre game meet up from 2pm at Platform 28 prior to the Arsenal v All Stars game for Arsenal fans. It's right across from Marvel. Devo that I'm not going to be able to get there again, because I'm going straight from work 😭. In Melb you can't go too wrong with where you stay if you're around the CBD or Southbank. I think I nearly pick a diff hotel each time I'm in the City, haha.

Would also love Adelaide recos for pre game pubs too!
How long are you in Melbourne for?

You can stay in the Docklands area since that's where Marvel Stadium is, and I suspect there's a lot of AirBnB choices there. But CBD and Southbank are also good areas too, should just be an easy tram to Marvel stadium.
I stayed in the same hotel as Matildas last time in Melbourne, it was fucking crazy honestly. Was even stuck in a lift with Caitlin and Macca and I just stared at my feet so scary hahahah. Docklands is the best area for Marvel, pretty much just walk to the station and cross the road.

As someone who is travelling from Perth for the Arsenal vs all stars game and both Tillies vs China games, can someone please tell me the best locations/hotels and best pubs to go either before or after the games? Will be travelling with my 18yo brother 😅

Wow. Good on you for respecting their privacy. I got the impression they were rooming in Melb since they seemed to arrive together for pics at the training ground and also during the fave Cadbury choc video.
I have no idea if they were rooming together, I think the entire floor was just Matildas team. I was on the level above them with some Matildas staff but not players as far as I'm aware. I was so stressed that they'd think I was a fan who was stalking them (even though I legit was staying at the bloody hotel and it was a total accident) I just pretended they weren't there hahahaha refused to make eye contact. My partner and I couldn't even talk about the game because we sat next to some of them in the restaurant too. So wild.
