ITZY
Re: ITZY
Lol Ryujin just looks so gay it's insane. And yeah she's getting bold af lol
Some said she didn't want to say "gay" but come on..... Plus she kept repeating it all throughout like plz she's either hard gaybaiting or just dropping hints.
Yeji also said it a bunch of times so I store that info in my brain.

Re: ITZY
Pretty sure this has been discussed before, but why do some midzys perceive every member is "gayer" than Yeji? If it's just because of the Paris thing I swear nobody's ever letting that go and it's been 4 whole years lmao. I'd like to see what's the opinion beyond Twitter. I know most midzys here think Yeji *could* be bi but that's a stark contrast with Twitter midzys. Are they stuck in this shallow mindset?
Re: ITZY
It's because it's the popular narrative created by the big accounts on twitter. You just need to go and check out who makes these rankings on there and all of them are he/hims who feel qualified to judge women's sexualities for no valid reason. And a couple of them just clearly outright don't like Yeji. The conclusion being none of this stuff is coming from anyone with any valid basis.Guest wrote: ↑16 Jan 2024, 22:07Pretty sure this has been discussed before, but why do some midzys perceive every member is "gayer" than Yeji? As for laughing, it would be a valid point of the woman didn't giggle at genuinely everything. I believed the Paris stuff at first too but after a couple of Itzy?Itzy episodes where she giggles at everyone from group members to the director to the staff, it's clearly her default setting.
Early on in Itzy's career where k "fans" called her derogatory homophobic slurs because of her relationship with a certain actress and then people uncovered some stuff from her school days which made the lesbian rumours run wild which in turn made the abuse worse. I think that scared her off quite a bit. She stopped engaging in initiating skinship and for a while even talked about wanting to become more girly. This happened before wannabe, so the big deluge of fans who came after experienced this phase which probably resulted in that mindset. But in recent years, I think she's slowly opening up more.
She's quite popular on the Asian side of queer fans and she flirts with unnies quite a bit according to fansigns vids from weibo and even the k side of twitter.

Op here. It's always nice seeing a midzy from the early eras. I've been a midzy since Mafia era so I admit there are some things I've missed. It's funny how that's the way kpop Twitter fandom behaves in general cause I can tell you in every fandom I've been in, it always happens THE SAME thing.Guest wrote: ↑17 Jan 2024, 04:12It's because it's the popular narrative created by the big accounts on twitter. I didn't know about the lesbian school rumors! Would you mind sharing them? I think I vaguely remember reading something about it but that's it, if you're uncomfortable you can put them under spoilers.
As for skinship, I particularly never picked up on it and thought she was just uncomfortable with it which there's nothing wrong with. She could like girls and not like to engage in skinship and I see that as absolutely normal but of course the Twitter fandom doesn't, they're so used to seeing female idols engaging in skinship that if there's one member that doesn't actively engage in it she must be the odd one out right? It's a very shallow mindset because you also have the people that say that if a female idol engages in skinship they're just doing it for attention seeking and not because they really like girls, so ???.
I hope I don't come out too delusional with this, but I've definetely seen Yeji either 1.becoming more comfortable with the fact that she's tomboyish or 2.something happened in her life and that's where she started being tomboyish, and my reasoning for 2 is that i'm a Mafia era midzy so I've missed out on quite some content, and as time went by I decided to not to go back to content from 2019-2020 mainly because of laziness but also because she looked painfully young and that seems a little creepy for me.
But there's something we can both agree with this topic and it's that Yeji has exarcerbated on boyish mannerisms for the past 2 years. I was there during Mafia era and that side of hers was minuscule compared to now, at least in my eyes.
I think logically, as you said, it would make sense if those mannerisms were always there but somewhere along the way she became too conscious of them and decided to "hide" them and now they're stronger than ever because she clearly stopped giving a fuck.
Obviously (and thankfully) I've seen some lesbian Twitter midzys that have picked up on this one way or another. They won't tell you what tf they think her sexuality is in order to not seem delusional or to avoid getting ratio'ed so they'll just thirst over this tomboyish side of her period. Makes me glad to think i'm not some crazy bitch who's seeing things that aren't there lmao.
Re: ITZY
i have never perceived the Paris stuff as straight lmao... she's borderline laughing as in mocking that taxi driver because of how funny/cute he looks. the way she says "our driver is so handsome" just comes off as mockery (gentle), yuna laughs in a way you would when slightly mocking something, and the guy laughs as well it's literally impossible not to laugh. i'm not saying she can't be into men, i even think some of her interactions with men could be potentially straight, always because of her giggling, but that time with the taxi dude to me was just her genuinely finding the guy cute as in adorable and funny, and honestly he is so bright and small or whatever so i get it.Guest wrote: ↑16 Jan 2024, 22:07Pretty sure this has been discussed before, but why do some midzys perceive every member is "gayer" than Yeji? another reason twitter midzys find her straight is that she never engages in gay fanservice, never flirts with another member the way lia or ryujin did, generally backs away when gay stuff is done to her (which to me is sus but ok) a bit like chaeryeong. i was extremely surprised when she shyly replied to a female fan to say she had "many girlfriends", she got inspired by ryujin lol, but that's an anomaly for yeji. generally she just replies to marriage proposals to say "no" lol.
there's also this idea that yeji is oblivious to the lgbt, i guess because they compare her to ryujin and lia who seem very aware of the west, even yuna, and because yeji gives that extreme uninterested vibe in anything that has to do with love and whatnot. so they paint her as this innocent borderline asexual who doesn't know that "gay" is a thing like she's dumb.
so basically she is 100% the straight one because 1- she giggles a lot when talking to men, 2- never engages in gay fanservice, 3- seems oblivious to the lgbt. that's about what I've seen for their "yeji is the straightest" tweets.
personally i can't read her as anything, straight or gay, but she pings and has hearteyes/crushes for some women. and her reluctantly avoiding marriage and whatnot questions is sus.

Twitter fandoms in general are cesspools with a few nice people scattered in there.
Anyways, the lesbian school rumour was that someone who was Yeji's classmate made a vague post talking about how she had a closer than "normal friendship" with another classmate and then some people who she was in a dance club with also added in their agreement. Yeji had also posted a note she'd shared with this friend on bubble and it was basically said "do you like me tick yes or no". And the rumours were amplified when this came to light.
I'm not fully aware of the exact fallout but it must have been bad because she didn't post on Instagram or come to bubble on her regular schedule while this was all unfolding.
Yeah, you're definitely not alone in thinking that she's gotten more comfortable in her own skin lately. And I'm glad because she got very quiet for a while. She also used to describe her style as "masculine" "tomboy" but then switched to "comfortable". But recently she started talking about it again.

Looking at predebut pics and content, she was often tomboyish but since she's sporty as well and most pics are her in a sports style, I thought maybe it's cause we don't see her actual style.

In terms of not reaching the west if you talk to old midzy like from the first eras and talk about the girls sexuality, it will “oh ryujin acts so gay lol” or “our yuna likes flirting with girls now shes older, cute” but if you enquire about Yeji sexuality the general response is “dont care” or “mind your own business”. There seems to be a wall built there.

I'm not a "real" midzy, got recently into the group even though I've been casually following them for years. But are you saying old midzys don't care about yeji pinging or just try to protect her?Guest wrote: ↑17 Jan 2024, 17:32
DA this is the first ive heard of this rumour but i have heard of a rumour of a rumour if that makes sense so im not surprised if this it.

If it's just because of the Paris thing I swear nobody's ever letting that go and it's been 4 whole years lmao. I'd like to see what's the opinion beyond Twitter. I know most midzys here think Yeji *could* be bi but that's a stark contrast with Twitter midzys. Are they stuck in this shallow mindset?

I will try to remember the date but it was somewhere back in 2020/21.da Can you post sources or something, maybe where that was discussed even if in korean ? Or when was the bubble thing posted?
As for sources, I'll try but the discussion was all in fan communities, which you need to join and get access to see the post. They're sort of like fb groups. However I'll look to see if there's stuff from any of the public discussion boards.

As for Yeji's gayest secrets, I would love to know them but I don't sadly. I was just in Korea on exchange right after their debut period and so was able to be involved in the k fandom then. It's not really a secret on that side, just something people prefer not to discuss nowadays because as I said it was a hard time for Yeji.
Most k fandoms continue to think of the i-side as "outsiders", so they try not to like anything bad leak out. Most k midzys will never post anything about the girls that they think harms their image anywhere where a lot of i-fans frequent. And I think the language barrier helped as well, because the initial post and then the note was all in Korean. So even if you actively follow Yeji on bubble, all you would see in a random note with korean text which bubble won't auto-transalate for you, and for someone like Yeji who sends multiple pictures and videos, it would likely just slip under the radar.
The point being I'm in no way an insider, like a fansite master or something, just someone who was exposed to the korean side of the fandom in Itzy's early days.

They use to be called Yejin not Ryeji but im not sure what im supposed to do with that information or how that relates to anything that has been postedGuest wrote: ↑17 Jan 2024, 22:52Ryujin’s and Yeji’s ship name wasnt originally Ryeji. We had to change it.

Re: ITZY
Yeji’s best friend is called Yejin, think that poster is trying to put a name to that rumor with the only name that is publicly known to midzy of yejis school friends. I doubt its about her or she would have blocked the 10000 midzys who follow her on instagram.Guest wrote: ↑19 Jan 2024, 18:09They use to be called Yejin not Ryeji but im not sure what im supposed to do with that information or how that relates to anything that has been postedGuest wrote: ↑17 Jan 2024, 22:52Ryujin’s and Yeji’s ship name wasnt originally Ryeji. Yejin was changed to ryeji though but its because Yejin is a common korean name, you want ship names to be unique.
Re: ITZY
That fan must be pretty for Yeji to notice her and want to know who her fav Itzy member is lolGuest wrote: ↑30 Jan 2024, 04:22Is she flirting or it's just me seeing things...
Also at the beginning she says "i saw you" damn... Why is this fan getting so acknowledged by her lol why not me
Can't say for sure if Yeji is flirting with the fan but she seemed to be unusually interested in her...
Re: ITZY
I don't think it's real but it was interesting how they seemed to match a lot
And people say yeji's been getting more "daring" lately. Even if that hat is like the new thing for everyone, it's still added to the list of yeji possibly giving hints.
Anyways yeji has that sapphic energy

It wasn't real, it was started by a man who fetishes lesbians and Yeji and Naeun just happened to be his favourite idols. I'm pretty certain you're unable to know that but there you are.
Also even if that hat is a trend it doesn't mean it's meaningless

Re: ITZY
Isn't Yuna in a teasing mode with Ryujin? I might have not observed her enough to know if she does that to other members but I feel she often tries to make Ryujin gaypanic... She's like that straight friend that knows you're gay and for some reason amps up the clingyness and flirting. She does both. She's naturally clingy though and flirty too i guess but the way she clings ro ryujin is unique to her i feel like.
I realised that after watching this
Yuna is the actual gay baiter
There was no need to look at ryujin like that, yeji and chaeryeong were normal
It's a constant
