As someone who's stayed in s.kor and had local rabid lesbians who doubled up as moos. Let me report from ground zero:
Byul - Confirmed lesbian in their books (No if's buts) The way both masc and femme one's thirst after her is too funny. To experience it just go drinking with them on friday nights. (The whole patriarchial bs came to the fore when she released selfish - and as a result of it, we won't see any mainstream collabs from her. Dumb fucking rv fans)
Yong - Femme, again confirmed by them. They call her omma (Literally Mother) after a beer and its mind numbingly funny.
MS - These moos do not fuck about ms. Ya'll should read their RPS, it's EXPLICIT AF. (But when sober they admit there's a chance its just a ship. And at this point they share knowing smiles. Fambam looking out for fambam)
Wheein & Hwasa - Moos will go to war for them but no hints about them being on the rainbow fam. However that does not deter these very moos to cry about laws not allowing them to marry wheesa. (Koreans when drunk and koreans when sober are 2 different people)

thanks for sharing. What’s RPS though?

There is baby pictures of yong though. Anyways whether it's trolling or not a pretty stupid, offensive and misogynistic accusation.

Hwasa and solar are pretty similar. Their interest in the lgbt are the g and t like most progressive straight women. They love the eccentricity, hyperfeminity and fun of that part of the lgbt community. Doesn't make solar secretly a gay man. It just makes her an ally. The gay best friend is so popular for a reason. Straight women LOVE gay men and gay culture.
Mamamoo have been celebrating the gay community for years now but it seems they've been even more open. Gay men love hwasa and I see solar following the same route. Lesbians love moonbyul and wheein. And if you look at their individual image it makes so much sense. It's the same in the west if you see the type of female artists popular with gay men. Lesbians tend to love the more cool, chill artists. Gay men love the loud colourful artists. Mamamoo are honestly a once in a lifetime kpop group, different colours of the rainbow.
This kills me everytime
Like even if you think Moonsun aren't dating. Solar's best friend is literally a whole ass lesbian.
Da yes, excellent point

Also, Jojo Siwa exists and is extremely loud and bright but mostly dates women, especially as she gets older because she's still very young. That one sister in Nina Sky came out as lesbian too and I wouldn't have called their music cool and chill. Same for Hayley Kiyoko, who has also performed with drag queens. I don't think you can define Solar's sexuality based on the aesthetics of the music she makes.
Yup. agreed. Infact no girls music choices should be used as a indicator of their sexuality. It's just such a shallow way to look at the whole topic.

It's literal a joke in the fandom that gay men love hwasa. It's true alot of her hate on twitter is also western gay men. But it's like with western artists gay men are the most toxic stans that like to pit women against each other. But hwasa is definitely a gay icon (similar to artists like lady gaga) in korea.

Byul definitely is controversial in the sense she's basically a part of klesbian culture. There's always debates not even about her sexuality but if she's butch if she's patriarchal butch, they've even named a type of lesbian after her. Some even say she's bad representation, it gets messy. That youtube video about mamamoo and the gay community hinted about it.
Wheein used to be rather popular with lesbians, even more than yong. There was a yotube video about it I think in 2018/2019. But her dating rumors mightve affected. So I'd say she has a rlly decent split with male and female fans. Also I put "problematic" in quotation marks for a reason. Because what kfans deem problematic ie dating and not hiding isn't problematic.
Yongs pull with lesbians is not in the same caliber as byul. She has alot of lesbian fans but also straight female fans similar to hwasa. Her and wheein are much closer with yong ahead of her.
[/quote]

da, not saying this to start some kind of stan war, but I don't think Hyejin is a gay icon at all, the video you shared was actually recorded in a gay club too. She's a symbol, of female empowerment, just the same as mamamoo in general. But that's not close to be a gay icon.

other than that, it sounds weird to me to use the word controversial for Byul really, she's divisive at most, but no big deal.

This is why no one takes you seriously. Gay men are mostly moonbyul fans, and weirdly het men too. For het men then Wheein is the preference.

Het women are mostly into hwasun. And klesbians are mostly into Byul and Solar.

Your expectations about the fandom are skewed.

Going by performances Solar and Byul always looks lesbian oriented, but Solar tends to go for a more revealing and wild stage while Byul choses sensuality mostly. Wheesa is completely het performkng wise.
Lol this isn't true. Gay men are mostly hwasa fans. Moonbyul has straight male fans the same way young ma, clairo, 070 shake do. You'd be surprised that straight men "like" mascs....to an extent anyways.
Straight women like hwasun, but the radfems like moonbyul. Also, even mamamoo acknowledge byul is the reason they have such a huge lesbian fanbase.
Byul is actually rlly controversial amongst klesbians. The whole moonbyulbutch drama and the court case. I hope byul revisits a concept like eclipse again but I'd understand why she wldnt because that was actually such a stressful era. Klesbians were kinda mean to her and it was the kradfems coming to her defense and not to mention the homophobia she was getting from the gp.
Wheein is more a mix. Her fanbase has changed over the yrs. I would say she's considered the most "problematic" member by the kside.
No, anon, you're going with supposed stereotypes and simplification, but it's not like that. Gay men would rather follow groups and artists like blackpink and Loona, Hyejin isn't really her fav in style and that's why in our group they gravitate more to the others.

Byul isn't controversial among klesbians, I'd call it different, but the point is they mostly follow her and also Yong.

About Wheein, I think that's harsh, yeah there are some things that raised eyebrows, but I'm not sure what that has to do with the discussion.

From my limited observations het men like B and also W but to a lesser extent because they think they’re more approachable. They find women like S and H intimidating.

It’s also why I think the US leg of the my con tour had way more men than in Asia. The western men seem to find them less intimidating. Also because in Asian countries they’re considered evil feminists.

As someone who knows two straight male mmm fans irl (my brother and cousin), the bolded part really scares/surprises me  those dudes are byul stans and are often completely unaware of how gay she presents herself unless I specifically point out to them. They also think hwasun are hot but too 'fierce/scary' so whee ranks second in their tastes.

Why are you all engaging with this troll? It's clearly picked up a new tactic to call Yong straight and dismiss Moonsun and it's worked. It pretending to care about Yong and deriding other trolls is a troll deflection tactic. Lesbians love Yong because we pick up that she's one of us. This is backed by Korean Lesbian moos experiences.
You guys call everyone a troll. I never even said lesbians don't like Solar. Most of mamamoo's fanbase is literally lesbian lol. Also they used to top those idols lesbians love lists. I already said I only think moonbyul is the lesbian of the group and the rest are most likely straight. Moonbyul is the favourite among korean lesbians. But the other members often interchange positions every year.

Lesbians, not gay men.

Wasn't this very thread, just a few weeks ago, trying to dismiss Wheein's performances with those male dancers because "they are all gay" or something? Wheein is literally doing the loudest performances right now, stepping on and rubbing herself on supposedly gay men. I don't see how that defines anything about her fandom or her own sexual preferences, just like Solar voguing says nothing about hers. This is such a bad take.
I think wheein likes men though. She's the most open about her relationships and it's been with all men. I think she's bi the same way most bi women are. I wldnt be surprised shes straight at all. But the vibes I get are bihet.
Da she's got at least one rumored relationship with a woman, exposed by the same angry former fans that exposed her relationships with men right? There's less detail on the woman because they didn't want to out her especially since she apparently wasn't in the industry unlike the dudes.
or maybe there's less detail because it's literally fanfiction

That’s incorrect.
All 4 garner lesbian interest but Yong and Hyejin also get gay male interest on top of it.

It’s obvious through their music why this is. They “serve c---” which = glam, attitude, bad bitch, hot and they know it, confident, femme fatale.

The mirror photo and the other silver photo are exactly that. The black slicked back hair one too. I’m excited for it. Only thing is i wish she hadn’t named a song honey honey. Unless it’s related to the original honey. Her solo concerts are going to be fun.
Oh yes definitely we all know mamamoo are popular with lesbians in general. But hwasun are "mothers" to gay men. I can already assume the kind of sound colourS will be. Pop/kind of hyperpop, disco. I don't see moonbyul appealing to gay men, her image appeals to women, even when she does a more mainstream concept.

Eh I've always thought hwasun was straight, wasn't using their music as a base, just that it reflects the typical stereotype we also see with musicians in the west. Imo moonbyul is a lesbian. Wheein imo is bi with a male preference. Hwasun wld go to a gay bar and wheebyul wld go to a lesbian bar. Obviously these are assumptions and not strict rules, just stereotypes I observed. Also bi women and straight women often share similar stereotypes so I wldbt be surprised hwasun are bi.
I remember hwasa saying she was worried moonbyul wasn't dating, and I can imagine her playing wingman and gobsmacked about the how different dating as a lesbian is :dance2:

i saw honey honey as a song title
then i noticed it's the same american producers who worked with purki before
they probably saw yong's honey and and composed a song thinking of her then offered it to rbw hence the dumb name lol
then rbw slapped some korean writers for the lyrics and that was it
it's the one song yong is not involved so i'm not holding my breath for that one

people were already thinking of asking her for honey honey honey next album tho

Ignore the troll

Re: Mamamoo; korean girl group

by Guest » Today, 00:14

I had sat on that question for months, should have sat on it longer to when there was no promoting happening.
It’s a genuine question. I wondered if anyone else had wondered the same. Her body looks male to me. Her legs as well. Her feet and hands are huge. I really noticed during two rabbits. There was some hand holding as well as a moment they brush pinkies when holding the back of a chair. Yong has very big hands fingers and wrists. She’s my bias although I know you won’t believe it. Hyejin has many gay man friends. Yong behaves more like a gay man herself. It’s uncommon seeing a woman with so much interest in gay men like she has. Even lesbians aren’t so interested. She has included drag queens many times. Her interest in voguing had placed the question back in my mind. I see she is working with a master voguing choreographer that is a trans woman.

I don’t know why C-side’s byul akgaes consistently match yong with a old man in the industry.

Could you please next time at least say Cha Eun Woo or some handsome guy? It’s fake anyway. Lmao
This, if you want to troll use some logic. She has more chances of dating her unmarried musical co-actors that are around her age, spends months and hours practicing with than she has with old (married) men she spends less than a day to record shows with. Pair her with someone hot and young :nails:

Please don’t reply to obvious trolling
it's mostly for moonsun, but come on, this one took the big award. Like how the fuck did they even come up with that idea, I had to laugh
da
Girl let me tell you, when you've been on lchat long enough the above post seems almost mild in comparison to some of the batshit insane trolling that happens on this site lmao.
That's why I want to facepalm every time some innocent soul on here is like "but why would someone troll about that??". You can't apply logic to trolls. Because they WILL troll about anything and everything.
I too have been here too long. Back before there was a time limit to making a new post and before there was a captcha. Some of you have no idea how terrible this place used to be trolled. Most of the trolls in here are easy to spot and ignore. That’s why I said to just ignore because usually that’s all they want to get someone to reply to their very lame attempt at trolling.

No wonder she said she was very proud she wrote on most tracks. That actually makes me more excited for the album.
