As mentioned prior one of the messages in MHJ press conference mentions a threat over the MV OMG which caused people to research why this was threat worthy. The conclusion is the lyrics of the song was meant to be praiseworthy towards the Dan World cult, hence lyrics like Dan Neoppuniya where in the recording booth Danielle was asked to emphasize the "dan" part. MHJ is listed as vocal director for the song so it is assumed she may have been the one who asked. The confusing part for me are the lyrics, because other lyrics being brought up as sus such as Gfriend's Mago have Bang written down as involved in writing them, but NewJeans does not have that. Of course, entirely possible the lyrics credits are very bullshity. I remember SNSD Sooyoung mentioning there were songs she wrote for that she wasn't credited on because she didn't write enough.
Anyways, MHJ video wasn't so praiseworthy though. And equates followers of the cult to being mentally ill. Which offends CEO Jiwon and Bang enough to threaten to get rid of collabs.
I was reading up about the monologue Hanni does at the start of the video and saw mention that the pronoun she uses for "you" is weird and rarely used, and sometimes is used as the word for God (
dangsin). It was also funny to choose her, the foreign member, to speak the lines as her pronunciation wasn't the best on it it too which could be seen as a slight. Siri also apparently can be interpreted as God. To further explain this can also connect to the Mago lyrics line 6960 magic. The 3 gods of the Korean people are Hwanin, Hwanung, and DANGUN… the 47th Dangun Seongjo in the Dangun Joseon Dynasty in 2096 is listed in this hwandan gogi (ancient kor history record) for a total of 6960 years. Dangun is the god the Dan World cult idolizes. To extra add on, Viviz have stated they aren't interested in doing a witch concept again when asked about concepts.
Anyways, another interesting thing was that when the press conference was airing a lot of sites weren't translating everything she was saying and of course skipped over the bit where when discussing the Shaman thing MHJ says "they're the ones doing witchcraft. That's why they are trying to corner me. Because they are doing it. By nature no one thinks like that unless they are the one's doing it." Koreans also theorize that the reason MHJ kept emphasizing she wouldn't kill herself at the press conference was in case something were to happen to her the public would know it wasn't her doing.
here is a korean thread I noticed that is still up, I saw some others I was taking note of have the accounts go private or get deleted. It's also extremely bizarre that the thread that started this all, that now has upwards of 50 million views on Twitter, has like no Korean articles written up about it.
this goes all into more detail about the cult, its connection to a cyber university the cult leader runs, and how a large number of Hybe idols have attended said university. There is so much going on in the thread and some of it is prob
like the weverse/phoning thing imo. But there is a decent amount of substance to this to make it believable.
Ah, I almost forgot to mention. I did think it was bizarre that immediately after the press conference out of all organizations the one MHJ chose to go to was a CBS radio, christian broadcasting. Netizens suspect that was intentional too.
