Re: Korean Entertainment Wave

I noticed that in Korean Tv shows they usually cast actors from the same agency. When an agency has an actor playing the main character, the second lead lead or a supporting character is usually from the same agency.

One example is Park Eunbin. In Attorney Woo the second male lead, In Cast Away Diva the second female lead, in Do you like the Brahms also the second female lead. It can't be a coincidence.

That specific agency is shady. One actress was signed there after started dating an old male director, 20 years older than her. He then casted her in one of his Netflix original shows.
They also recently signed a former kpop woman turned actress. She had a huge bullying scandal but was signed even though she is hated, is not really popular and not even a good actress. I guess it's all about connections.

Dumping this and the idol list after both the top number 1 girls dating scandals is peak comedy. Can't wait to see how far both of them dip on this years list.
There are like 3 married women with children in the top 10. Like i said very few people vote, only 652 for the whole list. An actress on this top 40 list had 31 votes and I know every single Twitter account that voted for her lol.

Only 652 women voted. Three of the glory actresses in the top 10 and the fourth one lower in the list. They also voted for favorite dramas/films and the Glory was in first place so it makes sense.

Nine Puzzle will be a big project with very high budget imo. Park Gyu young agreed to be in it without being the main female character and some male A list actors will also appear in smaller roles. The two actors playing the main characters in 12.12 The Day will be in it.

Lee Joo Young is filming a new drama with Kim Dami so I guess she is back. I was already planning on watching that since it's a thriller with Kim Dami but I guess now I have another reason to watch it. It will probably be a Disney original.
Let's see if JSN sends any public support since she always supports/interacts with Kim Dami. Maybe she won't post anything or send any support since she started acting like LJY doesn't exist years ago.
Honestly I can't find any logical explanation for their weird relationship.
What's the drama called? I see that Kim Dami is filming ''Nine Puzzle'' but nothing about LJY. Must be a small role if she's in that too.

Either they have broken up or it's giving old Hollywood. I mean, if you are truly in the closet in a country such as Korea, and there are already some rumours out there about your sexuality, then this kind of behaviour does make sense. LJY might be kind of radioactive because of her androgynous look and past LGBT roles, so they probably thought it best to pretend not to know each other. JSN has had a bunch of lesbian short films at the start of her career, but not much since. Has always made me wonder if they were casted for said roles because of their sexuality or if it's just a coincidence.

But yeah, I don't get it either. If they are truly dating, then that must be a difficult way to live. Always making sure that your SO and friends don't post anything ''incriminating'' on social media and pretending the other doesn't exist must be tiring.
Yes it's the drama Nine puzzle. Some people on Twitter think she has the role that was supposed to go to Park Gyu Young so maybe it's not a small role.
Oh! Fingers crossed that it's the case.
Park Gyu Young followed LJY on Instagram today so she will be in it too. I like her even more than Kim Dami and LJY. I can't believe 3 of the 5 actresses I really like will be in the same show :dance2:

Time to watch Parasyte the Grey on Netflix.
I checked JSN Instagram and noticed she deleted the remaining 2 LJY pics from like 8 years ago. She also deleted the Carol pic she had, LJY was tagged in that pic hahaha.
Last time I checked her Instagram it was still all there. Like 1 month ago.
It was decent. Felt a little short and rushed, I wonder if they have a part 2 or second season in mind.

She did? Could mean nothing, but does makes you wonder with LJY scrubbing most of her IG and sounding all depressed.
How did people come to the conclusion that they might have been/be dating? Only recently read about them here. I saw a couple pictures and videos of them with the actress from No heaven, but love. She might be gay too? Seems really close to LJY.
The actres from No Heaven, but love is LJY best friend/former roommate. Back in 2016/2017 she was in tons of pictures with LJY/JSN.

BoA just confirmed she will retire from music after her contract with SM ends (in December 2025).

And honestly? Like I know her fans are in shambles rn, but I'm like, you do you girl, if this is what you truly want and what you need to do stay healthy and have peace of mind, then do it. I hope folks will not treat this as her losing the battle with haters or whatever, coz I think there more to this, and there is probably a lot of stuff that we don't know. It's not like this is her first rodeo.

She started this when she was 13. She deserves to do now whatever the fuck she wants.

Can anyone who really knows Korean tell me if she actually used the word girlfriend? Insta translates it as sister, but people in the comments are saying she used the word girlfriend?
It says sister, but as always it doesn’t always mean “sister,” it’s just “older woman I know” or friend or respectful term depending on context. It says “that’s right, (sister), we’ve been doing this for 30 years.” Which could mean…a lot of things? A platonic friend she’s know for that long, for e ample. Or a coming out of a long term relationship but…would she do that? I don’t dare to dream! That would be nuts. If she is, we would certainly hear about it, no way media would t pick it up.
*no way media WOULDN’T pick it up. With the emoji, it could just be a friend she’s been hitting the cherry blossom peeping with for 30 years. But that bracelet 👀 I’ve assumed she’s gay forever but GOD it would be so cool for someone to just…come out like that. We deserve it, Korea deserves it, the world deserves it

I read that Korean actresses have difficulty returning to the industry after a divorce. You know Korean public prejudice. But she got all the support she could get. Now she will be known as someone who blames innocent women because of her emotions. The public does not need to know the homewrecker unless the other person is also a celebrity.
DA/ damn, thanks for this info.
I understand her emotions (well, not really, coz men are not worth it), but jeez, this is a pretty big faux pas to shame and blame innocent woman, who, to make matters worse, is not a public person.

speaking of B0A, this reddit post and replies is currently making rounds on twitter, and it blew my mind, because:
A) i had no idea about any of this, well except for the GOT story
B) it reminded me how absolutely lethal 1/2 gen antis/fans were, something that I think a lot of people have no idea about, while complaining about current stans (who I agree, are also awful, lol).

Tho now that I think about it, it seems like I may have heard somewhere how much she was despised by boygroup stans back then.
Thanks anon for the link. I'm not her fan but i always admire her careers. It's good to know what she had been through, an eye opener how shitty kpop industry are/were. About GOT, i hate the lyrics. That's all. I admire her stamina. She dance better than some people. Anyone who has lots of haters usually are brave women. Those haters are indeed coming from bg stans. Always them.

Given that and her weird overreaction to fans saying she looks like Song Hye-kyo, she seems to fly off the handle easily. On the other end of the spectrum, I think BoA's recent clap back at fans was masterful heh.
It was good, yeah. I'm okay with talking about PS, but I find it lame when the basic of that talk is intentionally bad screeenshot from titkot or YT vid. I mean, anyone can look bad if you really try. Everyone and their mother knows she had procedures, some more, some less succesful (recent lip injections), but I totally understand why she snapped, because it feels targeted.
I mean, sure you can go after her like this, but two can play the game, and you can go like this to prove the opposite point.

Calling her ugly, urecognizable, old..what exactly this will do to the conversation about PS, when every single point here is over the top, often toxic and quite franky - not true? If they want to go after PS culture in SK, sure, go for it, but doing it in a such toxic way tells me they really do not give a fuck.

btw, a lot of "fans" (doubt they were fans) in SK were mad that she clapped back. One dude (I suspect it was a dude) made dramatic exit saying this statment is the end for him. From now on he will only remember that little girl who debuted in the 00's, since that little girl and the woman who wrote that statment are two different people.
The saddest thing? That tweet has more than 4k likes. Overall, a lot of small d,,, energy stuff.

This is how I see it: even with procedures she most definitely aged, because that's something that ultimately cannot be stopped. And that's okay. But because she is mostly remembered in SK and Japan from her childhood, teen songs, those shocking comments (omg, she doesn't look like that girl anymore) will hunt her till the end time.

I will be manipulative and post hot gif of BoA, form few days ago, because why not.

That loser got it right. He stayed out of it, and now is getting prise left and right from SK "journalists" (of course :eyeroll: ).

It's incerdibly hard to have sympathy for her, coz she was messy and wasn't able to present her point clearly. In fact, from what I read, a lot of the stuff she wrote doesn't add up.

I hope she pulls through, but - I know it sounds patronising - she needs to calm down, and understand that she is throwing herself under the bus, without anyone else help.

Imo she has the right to speak up for herself. But what I dislike is that she kept bringing hyeri into this when hyeri already apologized and made it clear she never wanted to involve sohee in what she said from the start and that she was targetting her ex right from the very beginning. And that's the right thing to do, after all sohee never owed her anything, and the one who led her on was her ex.

And sohee never had empathy for a woman who broke up with her ex after dating him during almost all of her 20s? It's not hard to see why one would feel terrible about how their ex moved on in a few months after spending their entire youth with them or if they were misled to believe there was a chance of getting back together.

Again, her company most likely already tried to counsel her. Her friends most likely tried to stop her as well. You can't physically restrain someone lol Despite that, she still chose to read all and reply to those comments

It's really just a simple case of she's dumb and she can't help herself. She can't see the long game, where this will just blow over. She's impulsive and wants to take action immediately, not knowing it's more harmful. It speaks to her personality that she's immature, impulsive, and cannot be handled.

It seems like she got dumped for sure. If she didn't, she would have just said "it's over" yesterday instead of whatever else she wrote in that statement.

Decision to attack Hyeri yet again was totally uncalled for and inappropriate and it shows she's far from being supportive or uplifting towards other women which is the image she's been trying to portray.
If she was trying to defend herself, she could have done so without attacking Hyeri and directed her criticism towards him cause everyone agrees he is to blame for all of it.
But she did not cause she had no intention of breaking up with him, but she got dumped instead and that just makes her look pathetic.

Guess he took offense to being called ugly. lol

Re: Korean Entertainment Wave

by Guest » 30 Mar 2024, 21:10

Then there was the **alleged** statement from her agency, apologizing to the man for that post she had where she called him out (and ugly), but the agency statement got deleted? I bet she got dumped, and she's using that NKidman pic to spin the narrative and make it seem like she's "free" finally (which is such a stretch no matter what). I can see her wanting him to stand up for her but if he was telling her it would all blow over (hate to say it but he was right) and she kept posting, he's not going to further endanger his own career over her social media or their 10-minute-old relationship. It's funny to see how western gossip is reacting to it, it's like a "you go, girl, defend yourself from being called a homewrecker" thing.

Given that and her weird overreaction to fans saying she looks like Song Hye-kyo, she seems to fly off the handle easily. On the other end of the spectrum, I think BoA's recent clap back at fans was masterful heh.

Re: Korean Entertainment Wave

by Guest » 30 Mar 2024, 20:46

I also think there is this level of mystique aura around her that pretty much completely disappeared with this drama.

She suddenly became this talkative, "crazy, obsessed girlfriend" and that's hardly a good thing. Basically straisand effect in full force. I think she will be fine carrer wise in the long run, but she needs to stop talking. Because a lot of agencies or TV producers are looking at this drama and think she is difficult to control and hotheaded.

now, tbf, I'm okay with women to be firm or stand up to haters, but that's not exactly the case here.

Re: Korean Entertainment Wave

by Guest » 30 Mar 2024, 20:10

She still doesn’t get it. The whole story became the talk of the town because of HSH’s attitude and not because of the alleged transit relationship. Sure fans were triggered but the general public jumped in after the dog picture and the messed up timeline by HSH. The problem is not her desire to explain things, but the way she does it.

Did she do the breaking up? Wouldn't be surprised if he did. She really showed her ass over this whole thing. He's shitty as well, but at least he had the common sense to stay quiet while she was melting down publicly and demanding apologies from Hyeri. Embarrassing. She'll still get work I'm sure but man, she totally blew up the "cool girl" image she had going. Instead she's a girl-hater who would publicly make a fool over herself over a man. Wow.
DA Imo it's a mutual decision to break up , especially when she lowkey said he's ugly and she's frustrated that the person is staying silent (i assume it's rjy). i think she constantly mentioned hyeri because she really wants to clear up her name but she took the worst approach ever

i mean i side-eye her so much and got tired of this drama but i understand she's probably so stressed rn. oh well, she needs to either lay low and find someone (even a friend) to vacation with or be busy as fuck to cancel out the noise. i honestly don't want this to be another sulli situation (witchhunt and the women getting depressed), hsh looking more and more unhinged as days go by

This man is staying quiet while HSH is making herself look like a complete fool. Why do straight women get this embarrassing when it comes to men, and a ugly man at that. Think about your career, girl. :nails:

The knetz going after Hyeri are unhinged. But I love the comments that are mad that awful GoT song is back (that song is SUCH trash, the lyrics were so dated and opposed to the group’s concept…I think the women involved were embarrassed by it) and calling Sohee 2024’s worst woman lol. I can’t believe how much she’s exposing herself, and that THIS is her true nature. All for an ugly man who is staying out of all of it. As hard as it may be, Hyeri also needs to stay quiet about it. If she wants to sue, only release company statements. Let HSH continue to implode publicly, look like a fool, and tank her own career on social media.

All she gotta do is drop a statement saying dude lied about the brake up with Hyeri and that she's done with him.
Instead she's writing essays and making her life more complicated.
Where's her PR team at though?
Is she really with him after all that?

Damn she is boy crazy. Now she's really going to lose job opportunities in Korea, but she's doing this to herself. Hyeri doesn’t have to explain shit to her.

HSH is looking like Hyeri's ex with how much she yaps and mentions her. Girl don't bother her and focus on your ugly man instead.

Good on Hyeri, she looks cute and all but ever since before, Girls Day members are honestly the people you don't want to mess lol
HSH pretty much called her own boyfriend ugly in that post lmao. She is deranged. Imagine dating someone who publicly calls you ugly to millions of people.
I feel bad for Hyeri. She wasted 8 years with that pathetic loser.

HSH is really embarrassing. I feel sorry for her fans. I have never seen anything with her, not even Nevertheless. I just watched the lesbian couple parts in that show.
Her attempt to sabotage Hyeri's reputation is working opposite.
It's funny how het she is revealing herself to be. Since she is basically also revealing the reason she's defending him so hard is she is aiming to have a longer term relationship and settle down now that she's in her 30s. Contrast this to say WG Yubin who is older than her and when her sports guy got into shit she dropped him without a word.
