Translation if someone needs it
Handong and OP flirting as a greeting
OP: I want to ask what is your favorite bg
Dong: Bg?!
OP: Yes, your favorite bg
Dong: Bg...? (someone in the back says dc, I think Sua or Siyeon) Dreamcatcher!
OP: Yes! It's a great bg
Dong: Thank you! And what's your favorite bg?
OP: I don't like bgs. I don't like men
only dreamcatcher
Dong: Ah really? Okay~
Thank you so much
Translation if someone needs it
OP: What's your favorite bg?
Jiu: Uh... Bg...? What is YOUR favorite bg?
(repeats in English because OP didn't understood)
OP: Oh, my favorite bg? Mmmh, I don't like bgs
Jiu: Omg! Yes!
OP: Only dreamcatcher
Jiu: I-I- Yes, me too! Only dreamcatcher
Lmao they have clearly talked about this.
Not entirely sure what to make of Jiu. When she has time to think and respond she gives very neutral responses and teases fans a lot but that one comment from 2022 was such a massive hetero normative slap that it's been seared into my brain. I don't really know what to make of her remarks any more. I just don't buy into the argument that she was so insanely comphet after 5 years of catering to shippers and queer fans. Remove the shipping goggles and I just don't see it anymore. Maybe I'm jaded.
Da I have to respectfully disagree about Jiu because it's been brought up so many times. This is without shipping goggles cause I don't believe any of the ships are real. I don't think that one moment is as bad as it's made it out to be tbh.
Speaking from personal experiences, comphet is a thing, even for many queer folks because that's mostly what we're surrounded by. I have been guilty of doing the same when someone was talking about a girlfriend/boyfriend I had automatically assumed that the partner was of opposite gender. It took me a lot of time to get rid of that mindset and even now I have to sometimes remind myself not to make assumptions. There's a reason why many bi women tend to end up with men because it's more socially accepted.
I don't have any opinions about Jiu's sexuality because I find her to be confusing. There have been few sus moments but she tends to be neutral in most cases so I don't know what to think.
My confusing thoughts about Jiu are basically for the same reason I'm confused about other members. Except for Sua, they just don't show interest in men, and they usually don't interact much on camera with other idols to compare. Usually I would think she's straight by default but I'm trying to correct that habit of me
So I try to get tidbits here and there to try to figure out where they might lean towards. And so far, Jiu doesn't have big weights on the wlw part, but she doesn't either on het part. It doesn't help that interviewers usually don't do love talk with them, and that fans since 3rd gen are really harsh on idols compared to 2nd gen
What I mean is, just taking clear things that had been given on their own instead of some fan setting them up, we know Sua and Yoohyeon like men because they have given specific physical traits on men that they like (Sua with muscles and Yoohyeon with faces), we know Yoohyeon also likes woman because her comments like "all people" more than once, we can assume Siyeon likes women because she has praised specific physical traits on women
Other than that, they haven't really said clear things. Sua had commented some things about women too but since it has been only in the context of actresses and not specific physical traits I'm not sure if it can be counted as attraction or fan praising. All members tend to speak in gender neutral, but since it's not hard to do that in korean I don't know how to take it, and when they fall into gendered is usually targeting woman and less on men and always in the context of fanservice
So my opinion only based on that is Siyeon's not het and bi yet to see, Yoohyeon's bi (pan), Sua's not les and bi yet to see, and the rest indeterminate so far. I can try and guess on other things, but that's just that, guessing, because that type of things could be explained by other reasons
