This is why no one takes you seriously. Gay men are mostly moonbyul fans, and weirdly het men too. For het men then Wheein is the preference.
Het women are mostly into hwasun. And klesbians are mostly into Byul and Solar.
Your expectations about the fandom are skewed.
Going by performances Solar and Byul always looks lesbian oriented, but Solar tends to go for a more revealing and wild stage while Byul choses sensuality mostly. Wheesa is completely het performkng wise.
Lol this isn't true. Gay men are mostly hwasa fans. Moonbyul has straight male fans the same way young ma, clairo, 070 shake do. You'd be surprised that straight men "like" mascs....to an extent anyways.
Straight women like hwasun, but the radfems like moonbyul. Also, even mamamoo acknowledge byul is the reason they have such a huge lesbian fanbase.
Byul is actually rlly controversial amongst klesbians. The whole moonbyulbutch drama and the court case. I hope byul revisits a concept like eclipse again but I'd understand why she wldnt because that was actually such a stressful era. Klesbians were kinda mean to her and it was the kradfems coming to her defense and not to mention the homophobia she was getting from the gp.
Wheein is more a mix. Her fanbase has changed over the yrs. I would say she's considered the most "problematic" member by the kside.
No, anon, you're going with supposed stereotypes and simplification, but it's not like that. Gay men would rather follow groups and artists like blackpink and Loona, Hyejin isn't really her fav in style and that's why in our group they gravitate more to the others.
Byul isn't controversial among klesbians, I'd call it different, but the point is they mostly follow her and also Yong.
About Wheein, I think that's harsh, yeah there are some things that raised eyebrows, but I'm not sure what that has to do with the discussion.
It's literal a joke in the fandom that gay men love hwasa. It's true alot of her hate on twitter is also western gay men. But it's like with western artists gay men are the most toxic stans that like to pit women against each other. But hwasa is definitely a gay icon (similar to artists like lady gaga) in korea.
Byul definitely is controversial in the sense she's basically a part of klesbian culture. There's always debates not even about her sexuality but if she's butch if she's patriarchal butch, they've even named a type of lesbian after her. Some even say she's bad representation, it gets messy. That youtube video about mamamoo and the gay community hinted about it.
Wheein used to be rather popular with lesbians, even more than yong. There was a yotube video about it I think in 2018/2019. But her dating rumors mightve affected. So I'd say she has a rlly decent split with male and female fans. Also I put "problematic" in quotation marks for a reason. Because what kfans deem problematic ie dating and not hiding isn't problematic.
Yongs pull with lesbians is not in the same caliber as byul. She has alot of lesbian fans but also straight female fans similar to hwasa. Her and wheein are much closer with yong ahead of her.

da, not saying this to start some kind of stan war, but I don't think Hyejin is a gay icon at all, the video you shared was actually recorded in a gay club too. She's a symbol, of female empowerment, just the same as mamamoo in general. But that's not close to be a gay icon.
other than that, it sounds weird to me to use the word controversial for Byul really, she's divisive at most, but no big deal.
